Sr Field Engineer II - Coyote

Raytheon IIS Field Engineering is currently seeking a Sr. Field Engineer II. This is a Lead role who will be responsible for leading the Coyote UAS weapon platform team in Tucson AZ. As the Lead, the selected candidate will be responsible for supporting/overseeing training, operation and maintenance activities of the Coyote UAS weapon system in Afghanistan, Iraq, and other undisclosed Middle East locations. The Lead will ensure all installation, test, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair engineers for the radar system (including operation of a tactical generator and an environmental cooling unit) and the Coyote UAS are ready and capable of supporting these weapon systems. The Lead will be considered the technical expert and must be able to answer all technical questions regarding the operation and maintenance of the system. The Lead will provide guidance to the PMO, IPT Lead, and even US Army soldiers to complete emplacement, tactical operation, preventive maintenance and march order tasks. The Lead will be required to travel to support locations OCONUS on an as needed basis.
** Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignment to the Middle East, including comprehensive post-offer medical examination **

Required Skills and Experience:


  • Experience supervising other technical support engineers in an OCONUS environment
  • Experience creating and executing training plans
  • Experience providing technical support via remote access and/or in person
  • Excellent customer support history
  • Experience conducting field test planning and logistics
  • Experience working with Depot Support maintenance experience on electronics or radar.
  • Willing to live/work in an austere environment at Forward Operating Bases and remote locations.
  • Electronics experience - familiar with the tools and test equipment commonly used in electronic installation, maintenance and testing.
  • UAS assembly, disassembly and repair experience.
  • Aircraft maintenance experience highly desired.
  • Experience with 1.4 explosives.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a UAS maintainer/pilot.
  • Must be a self-starter and have the ability to align priorities appropriately and work.
  • Must possess excellent technical writing, oral communication and negotiation skills.

Desired Skills:


  • A minimum of 6 years’ experience in the repair of military sensor or radar systems.
  • Graduate of US military sensor or radar technical school.
  • Understanding of sensor or radar system operations and maintenance.
  • Experience with military generators.
  • Experience with tactical HVAC systems.
  • Minimum 2 years experience as a UAS maintainer/pilot.
  • Minimum 2 years experience with munitions handling/loading.
  • Knowledge of military protocol.
  • Past military experience highly desirable.
  • Past deployment experience in a combat environment a plus.

Required Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with a minimum of 4 years’ experience, OR an Associate Degree with 8 years of related experience OR High School and 12 years of related experience, training and education may substitute for the degree.

Security Clearance Requirements: Must have a DoD SECRET Security Clearance




Special Work Circumstances:


  • Willing to travel to include Afghanistan, Iraq and other international destinations.
  • Must be able to deploy to remote international locations with little notification.
  • Must be willing and able to deploy to environments that may include harsh living conditions (extreme heat and cold, deployed living conditions, etc.) and/or hostile work environment.
  • Must be able to move and/or lift weights such as test equipment, ladders, tools, and cable reels weighing up to 60 pounds using proper lifting techniques or material moving equipment.
  • Must be able to live and work in the Middle East desert with temperatures above 120 degrees F.
