Sr Chemical Engineer II


Raytheon Mission Solutions is seeking a Polymer Chemist to provide support to a US Government program. The Polymer Chemist will serve as one of the Subject Matter Experts on a team that is responsible for monitoring and facilitating technical development and production projects that are being performed for a Government customer. Job duties include recommending innovative solutions for technical problems, researching manufacturing processes and applications of aerospace related polymer products, serving as a technical lead for development projects, ensuring compliance with Government program management practices and authoring and reviewing project documentation.



Work Location: Government facility in Northern VA


Travel required: Domestic travel one week every other month



Responsibilities:



Serve as a technical Subject Matter Expert and assist the customer project teams with a variety of polymer related requirements



Serve as a technical program interface to the program's partners in both the Government and industry



Develop and document the customer's technical requirements



Develop and document test verification/validation plans and procedures



Ensure compliance with Government program management practices



Support program control gates and boards, provide schedule input and communicate status to various levels of management and team members



Required skills:



Candidate must have U.S. Citizenship



Experience in the manufacturing and/or industrial use of polymers such as polyurethanes, epoxies, PAN (polyacrylonitrile), adhesives, carbon fiber composites and other advanced aerospace related materials



Proven ability to work in a team environment



Proven ability to mentor others and/or take a leadership role on specific projects



Strong verbal and written communication skills demonstrated in the preparation of written requirements and specifications



Desired skills:


TS/SCI with polygraph clearance


Experience managing technical system development projects in the Intelligence Community (IC) and/or the Department of Defense (DoD)



Detail -orientated, deadline driven, self-directed and organized individual



Displays a high level of initiative and ability to deliver results on technical projects



Exhibits solid scientific judgment and decision making



Education

Candidate must possess a Bachelor’s degree

This is multi-level req. This position can be salary grade G09, G10, G11 based on the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and responsibilities for the position. All level candidates from G09 to G11 will be considered.
