SAIC is seeking an Intermediate Level Data Engineer to join our team at the U.S. Army Human Resources Command in Ft. Knox, KY. The Data Engineer will be a part of a team supporting the Integrated Total Army Database (ITAPDB).
Position Responsibilities:
· Determines operational objectives by studying business functions; gathering information; evaluating output requirements and formats.
· Self-motivated with the ability to prioritize, meet deadlines, and manage changing priorities.
· Perform analysis and interpret data for accuracy completeness, consistency and validity.
· Designs new computer programs by analyzing requirements; constructing workflow charts and diagrams; studying system capabilities; writing specifications.

· Defines application problems by conferring with clients; evaluating procedures and processes.
· Recommends controls by identifying problems; writing improved procedures.
· Identifies project milestones, phases, and data element mapping.
· Maintains system protocols by writing and updating procedures and user documentation.
· Prepares technical reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing information and trends.
· Develops solutions by preparing and evaluating alternative workflow solutions.
· Controls solutions by establishing specifications and coordinating production with programmers.
· Validates results by testing programs.
· Ensures operation by training client personnel; providing support.
· Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; benchmarking state-of-the-art practices; participating in professional organizations.
· Monitors and maintains automated processes (ETL).

Qualifications
Required Education and Experience:
· A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field and 2 years or more of related experience. Four additional years’ experience will be considered in lieu of a Bachelor’s degree.
· Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
· Strong SQL Server, PLSQL, T-SQL and performance tuning capabilities.
· Minimum two years of experience with MS SQL Server database development.
· Minimum two years of experience with Oracle/Toad/OBIEE. (preferred)
· Create and distribute data extracts, reports, and deliverables in support of customer deliverables.
· Identify and map relational database tables, fields, and sources.
· Perform troubleshooting and monitor Extract Transform Load (ETL) process.
· US Citizen – No dual citizenship.
· Possess a SECRET clearance or have the ability to obtain one. Must have at least an interim SECRET to begin work on the contract.
· Must be CompTIA Security+ certified.
· Must obtain as a related certification relevant to the computing environment, such as Oracle Certified Associate, with the first 90 days of employment.
· Must be enrolled in CompTIA Continuing Education program.
Primary Job Activities:
· Provide data translation and interpretation to support requirements.
· Develop data interfaces with external enterprise customers.
· Develop SQL queries and code modules to meet requirements for customer projects.
· Conduct data analysis involving Stage and SQL/Oracle production databases and reporting.

Preferred Experience:

· Ability to articulate advantages and disadvantages of various technologies and standards to non-technical audiences.
· Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
· Ability and interest in querying, analyzing and presenting data.
· Able to work independently, take initiative, learn new skills, prioritize effectively.
· Proficient at exchanging information and ideas with others.
· PeopleSoft familiarity
· Experience with Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL).
· Attentive to detail, yet also able to understand how your work fits into the larger whole.
· Have a proven ability to work on collaborative, self-organizing teams that embraces agile development principles and practices.
