Special Mission Aircraft Mission Assurance Lead

Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems is seeking an experienced professional as Mission Assurance Lead. This role will implement Quality Assurance Systems through design, development and production phases on an International Special Mission Aircraft development program. Tailor and implement Quality Assurance requirements applicable to major programs and/or manufacturing areas. Support transition of new hardware to production. Provide Program Quality Engineering support to aircraft integration facilities, engineering laboratories, and factory operations with minimum supervision. Lead multi-functional teams in process improvement activities with an emphasis on Six Sigma and Statistical Process Control. Monitor Product and Process Quality through area evaluations and quality metrics along with documenting and reporting findings. Provide Quality technical support for hardware test procedure development and implementation. Interface with Program and/or Integrated Product Team and/or Manufacturing management, suppliers, integrators, and internal/external Customers and FAA representatives. Successful personal interaction with an international customer community critical to the Global Growth objectives of Raytheon will be a routine expectation of this applicant.

The selected individual will perform with minimal supervision to:
  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of electronic assembly/manufacturing processes, integration and test operations and procedures in a high-reliability environment.
  • Review contractual documentation to assure correct and consistent flowdown of customer mission and/or quality requirements to the program leadership team, functional teams and subcontractors/suppliers.
  • Identify and mitigate cost, schedule, technical and quality risks as a member of the Program Risk and Opportunity Management Board (ROMB). Solicit inputs from System Assurance (SA), Hardware, Software, and Supplier Quality.
  • Communicate program goals, objectives, requirements and customer feedback to all Mission Assurance disciplines, cross-functional program teammates and supply base to assure alignment.
  • Provide Mission Assurance disciplines with program direction to assure quality tasking is accomplished within budget, on time and as defined in program planning. Define, collect, analyze and maintain Mission Assurance metrics for program and functional use.
  • Review and approve the Engineering program documentation, including specifications, requirements, specification control drawings, altered item drawings, assembly drawings, test plans, procedures, instructions and standard operating procedures prior to release for correctness to technical standards.
  • Have direct interface with program management, cross-functional program leadership, suppliers, customers and government representatives.
  • Assure program lessons learned are captured at the end of each phase of the program life cycle and included in closure activities.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 8 years in Engineering, Quality, Operations, or Program Management
  • Knowledge of electronics assembly/manufacturing processes, integration and test operations and procedures in a high-reliability environment.
  • Must have a working knowledge of Quality systems, AS9100, AS9102, Configuration Management, Test Engineering and Supplier Quality.
  • Able to lead root cause analysis investigations and implement closed loop corrective actions.
  • Must be able to work with Engineers and other IPT members to develop practical solutions to complex problems.
  • Strong Quality data extraction and analysis skills.
  • Must have a practical application of: MRB, high reliability requirements, requirements verification and validation, supplier surveillance practices, and hardware Quality Engineering floor support experience
  • Must be proficient in MS office computer skills, Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Avionics, Radar & Communications experience.
  • Strong practical and theoretical background in aircraft mechanical systems and avionics.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required as this positon will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.

Desired Skills:
  • FAA DAR-T, AR experience, or A&P Certification.
  • Prior participation in Military green aircraft research and development and flight test programs, or aircraft modification experience.
  • Knowledge of Six Sigma concepts and philosophy.
  • Knowledge of manufacturing shop floor control systems.
  • Strong written/verbal and presentation skills are desired as are skills in statistical analysis and metric development.
  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer.
  • Existing DOD Top Secret Clearance.

Required Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Quality Assurance.

Desired Education:
Advanced Degrees in Engineering, Science, Mathematics or Quality Assurance.
