Space Systems – ISRC Special Mission Principal Systems Engineer - ISRC - SSBI

Job Description:

This position is for the Special Mission Systems Engineer within the Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance Mission Area of Raytheon’s Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) business. The ISRC Special Mission Systems Engineer will lead a growing dynamic technical team charged with the entire Systems Engineering process associated with the design and development of integrated ISRC sensor suites. The candidate will interface directly with customers across all phases of the program lifecycle. The Special Mission Systems Engineer will:
  • Have knowledge of advanced RF, optical, EOIR and/or communications technologies to help formulate strategies and system concepts in support of customer defined mission operational requirements and capabilities
  • Provide inputs to the development of ISRC systems and payload architectures to support customer defined mission operations and capabilities
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight of ISRC CONOPS development
  • Provide analyses and simulations for space communication systems, including: link analysis, signal distortion, system capacity, reliability, and performance
  • Provide technical oversight and participate in system and subsystem design reviews
  • Support operations analysis to determine subsystem requirements across a suite of ISRC sensors
  • Be familiar with open system architecture to support the development of integrated sensor suites across low-latency, networked sensor system domains

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 10 years of work experience in Radar, Electronic Warfare, EOIR and/or Comm programs
  • Experience as a Chief Engineer on a large program, capture or other role providing technical leadership to a large engineering team
  • Experience in development (design, fabrication, integration & test) of high reliability space electronics with preference in ISRC and RF electronics
  • Experience with preparation, technical review and approval of proposals and business decision Gates to ensure technical and execution feasibility
  • Experience with developing and presenting technical briefings to the customer and company leadership
  • Ability to effectively lead teams of technical experts to resolve challenging technical problems
  • Experience establishing and maintaining working relationship with all levels of the organization, including customers, users, and other peer groups
  • Active SSBI
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position needs an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.
  • Ability to access US only data systems

Desired Skills:
  • Proposal management, from initial pursuit and capture planning to proposal delivery
  • ​Strategic planning for advanced technology development and maturation
  • Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) or line engineering management experience
  • Experience with the technical review and approval of proposals and Gates to ensure technical and execution feasibility
  • Experience in new business development for advanced technology, including direct customer interface and a familiarity with the DoD Science and Technology community

Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Aerospace, Electrical or Mechanical Engineering, Math, Physics or related degree; advanced degree(s) strongly preferred
