Description
SAIC is seeking a motivated entry-level engineer to join the National Security Customer Group (NSCG). The NSCG provides specialized engineering, analysis, and operations support to a variety of Intelligence Community (IC) and Department of Defense (DoD) customers. We support the future of national security-related space systems. For the summer of 2020, NSCG has an entry-level engineering position available. This engineer will conduct analysis and technical advisory services for an IC research and development (R&D) customer who is developing the next generation of space systems and ground architectures.
Roles and responsibilities potentially include:
- Work side-by-side with existing subject matter experts in orbital mechanics, spacecraft design, optics, Radio Frequency (RF), communications, and/or modeling and simulation
- Develop modeling and simulation tools to assist with analysis of complex, technical problems relating to a wide variety of spacecraft and systems
- Work with the customer to explore new missions, Concept of Operations (CONOPs), and architectures to solve some of the hardest intelligence problems facing the nation
- Develop algorithms to perform analysis and produce data products
- Maintain and improve large scale simulations to support multiple missions and integrate existing models from mission partners into simulations
- Model dynamic agent behaviors
- Evaluate complex results and determine engineering recommendations based on analysis
- Quickly translate user needs into effective software solutions
- Develop documents and briefings to communicate work or study status, brief government and industry as required

Qualifications
- B.S. (upon employment) in a STEM-related degree field such as engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
- Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams
- US Citizenship required and must be willing and able to obtain a Top Secret/SCI security clearance
Desired Qualifications
- M.S. (upon employment) in a STEM-related degree field such as engineering, Mathematics, Physics, or Computer Science
- Experience using C, Python, R, SQL, postgreSQL, linux, TCL/Tk, MATLAB, VB, and/or STK
- Experience modeling and simulating complex systems
- Knowledge of IC systems and terminology
- Previous internship or work experience
