Space Strategy Instructor (NSSI), #4201

Brief Description

LinQuest is seeking a Space Strategy Instructor to join our team at Peterson AFB in Colorado Springs, CO. 


The Space Commission Report of January 2001 amplified the need for more space education and training, noting the shortfall in growing space professionals at senior leadership echelons. The Commission's report served as a catalyst to help transform existing training into the Headquarters National Security Space Institute (NSSI), which officially activated October of 2004. The NSSI had two main schools, the Space Professional School, which was responsible for the Space Professional continuing education courses such as Space 200 and Space 300, and the Space Operations School, dedicated to teaching advanced space concepts, deployment training, and instruction to space operations crewmember.




  • Provide extensive subject matter expertise on national level strategy and policy matters concerning space
  • Ensure national-level policy/strategy materials are correctly and effectively incorporated into lesson plans, visual aids, student study materials, and student prerequisite materials
  • Provide extensive subject matter expertise on the policies and strategies of key space faring nations
  • Ensure international policy/strategy materials are correctly and effectively incorporated into lesson plans, visual aids, student study materials, and student prerequisite materials
  • Conduct/manage/facilitate student and faculty review of national and DoD level policy/strategy materials
  • Provide classroom instruction in a graduate level setting, to include mobile courses
  • Provide curriculum development using the Instructional Systems Design (ISD) process
  • Escort and introduce visiting lecturers
  • Read, analyze, and critique student assignments
  • Monitor, evaluate, tutor, counsel, grade and provide comprehensive feedback on student exercises and assignments
  • Research, write, review and edit books, journal articles and reports
  • Present papers and briefings to professional organizations, societies, and symposia
  • Conduct research to identify changes across the global space enterprise and incorporate relevant changes into the curriculum to ensure currency of delivered material



Required Experience:

  • Masters degree or higher in national strategy, international relations, foreign policy, and/or national-level public policy, geopolitics, space studies, space sciences, and/or astronautical engineering.
  • 3 years of experience in curriculum/lesson development and instruction
  • 3+ years of experience working at a military higher headquarters (HQ) (Joint Staff, Air Staff, Combatant Command HQ, Air Force Major Command HQ, etc) 
  • 10+ years of experience in relevant field
  • US Citizenship and active DoD TS/SCI Clearance is required to be considered for this position


Preferred Experience:


  • 3 years of experience in policy and/or strategy development
  • 3 years of experience in military or government space systems
  • 3 years of experience in domestic or international legal matters concerning space, national level policy and/or strategy
  • 3 years of experience in working international initiatives on space-related agreements
  • 3 years of experience in command relationships, the integration of space operations with theater operations and the development of doctrine to effectively use space
  • 3 years of experience in applied strategic analysis, models, tools, and theory (Game Theory)
  • Collegiate-level education teaching experience
  • Past military active-duty and/or federal government civil-servant experience
  • Past professional experience in space programs and operations (satellite operations, launch, etc.)
  • 3 years of experience in joint doctrine, publications, processes, and/or Joint Force Integration
  • 3 years of experience in the employment of space capabilities, to include theater campaign planning, operational art and design and targeting
  • 3 years military background to include weapons employment experience in joint and/or international environments
  • 3 years of experience in operations in a minimum of 3 of the following warfighting domains: land, sea, air, space, and cyberspace
