Software Engineer - VMS

Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a VMS Software Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida. This site is the center for design, development, and rapid prototyping of advanced airborne surveillance and battle management systems critical to our nation's security.

Essential Functions:
  • Design, develop, and debug automated tests for embedded software systems
  • Operate efficiently in an Agile software environment

Although not required to start this position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance as well as Program Special Access within a reasonable amount of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.

Qualifications:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 2 years of experience in software engineering OR
  • Master's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 0 years of experience in software engineering
  • Demonstrated experience with a software development or scripting language such as Python
  • This position requires the ability to obtain and maintain a DOD Secret or Top Secret Clearance as well as Program Special access within a reasonable period of time, as determined by the company to meet its business needs.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • An active, in-scope DoD security clearance at the Secret level (or higher) with investigation/re-investigation within the last 5 years to qualify for SAP eligibility
  • Accredited degree in computer science, computer engineering, or other related field
  • Experience in object-oriented analysis and design
  • Experience with requirements testing
  • Experience with developing software in an Agile software environment; specifically with Python
  • Experience with software automation
  • Experience with DO-178 or other aircraft safety standards
