Software Development Manager (Up to 25% Profit Share)

Job Description


What You’ll Get to Do:

You will have an opportunity to make a positive impact on software developers under your tutelage. You will manage the software developers of a highly performing and growing team. Software developers on your team, currently 35, will be supporting new development and maintenance activities. Your teams will execute software development under Agile processes. You will report to the program’s Chief Engineer and work in a peer relationship with the Systems Engineering Manager.  You will have a key role in our team’s success. 


More About the Role:

  • Your team is geographically dispersed across three software development sites located in Colorado, Virginia, and Florida
  • Manage experienced processional who exercise latitude and independence in assignments
  • Perform software developer interviews and make hiring recommendations to the Program Manager. This effort includes subcontractor hire recommendations.
  • Establish performance goals and development plans for software developers on the program (excluding subcontractors)
  • Assess performance of the software developers on the Program (excluding subcontractors)
  • Determine software developer assignments across the multiple development and maintenance teams
  • Provide mentorship to software developers
  • Assign mentors for junior software developers
  • Provide quarterly performance reviews with software developers
  • Make compensation and bonus recommendations to the Program Manager
  • Assist the corporate recruiting partner through candidate identification, review, and in executing interviews for your program
  • Support the Program’s Architect in concept development
  • Support the Program’s Systems Engineering Manager in development of processes and procedures for interaction with software development
  • Support the Program’s release manager in development and execution of Agile processes


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • An active TS/SCI clearance is required
  • Experience developing systems in Agile teams
  • Experience developing JAVA programs
  • Experience developing or integrating with user interfaces
  • Experience interviewing software developers
  • Experience writing performance reviews
  • Experience establishing performance and development goals for software development teammates
  • Experience coordinating with engineering and testing organizations
  • Typically has a University Degree (BA/BS) or equivalent experience and minimum 10 years of related work experience.


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • SCRUM or Kanban certification
  • Experience managing large teams
  • Experience determining and communicating personnel needs
  • Experience communicating resource needs to the Program’s management team
  • Security+ certification
  • Experience using automated test techniques
  • Experience with DevOps
  • Experience developing cost estimates
