Primary Purpose:  

LGS Innovations, a leader in solving the most complex networking and communications challenges, is seeking an Embedded Engineer III for our Santa Barbara, CA location.

Under minimal supervision, design and implement embedded real-time software, firmware and hardware solutions for custom wireless communication standards.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Develop software, firmware, and hardware for embedded wireless communications systems.
Design, develop, and implement signal processing algorithms with applications for custom wireless communications receivers, transmitters, and transceivers on multiple processing platforms involved with Software Defined Radio (SDR).
Provide analysis of signal processing performance using Matlab, or other similar simulation environments. 
Perform research pertaining to advanced signal processing and re-configurable communications processing techniques.
Participate and develop documentation for both internal design reviews and with customers present.
Track work using web-based tools to ensure progress is seen by manager/team members, and demonstrate work is being completed in a timely manner.
·    Ability to obtain/retain a government security clearance at the level necessary to perform the duties of the position.

Skills and Knowledge:

Experience implementing communication algorithms using embedded software, multi-threaded programming, microcontrollers, DSP processors, FPGAs and interfacing to ADCs/DACs is desired.
Proficiency in one of more of the following languages: Python, C, C++, VHDL, Verilog, CUDA, OpenCL
Ability to work on a diverse set of projects.
Hands on, willing to learn and be comfortable working in an environment with engineers of diverse backgrounds and expertise. 
Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills are necessary.
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum Education and Experience:

·      Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field, Master’s degree preferred, and 10 years’ experience in an area related to digital communication systems experience, or an equivalent combination of skills, education, and experience.Preferred Qualifications: N8:N9Desired Skills:

A theoretical understanding and practical experience with modern communications and digital signal processing techniques is highly desired.
RF and Microwave system design experience.
Previous design experience using Xilinx Vivado/ISE, Xilinx FPGAs and the Zynq System-on-Chip.
Experience with GIT (or SVN) for software development.
Experience with Agile development.


There is no clearance requirement to begin employment. However, as a requirement of continued employment in this position you will be required to obtain a Secret clearance.
