Social Science - Level III with TS/SCI clearance

Job Description

Serves as a top level technical or functional expert, often working on multiple projects and programs.

Position overview:

Organizes, directs and coordinates the planning and execution of NGA research projects, including: developing research proposals; design research efforts to address specific business needs; monitor projects and report regularly on progress; develop research materials based on scientific best practices; supervise research execution; collaborate with statisticians to develop data analysis plans for research efforts; interpret and summarize research results.

Serve as Subject Matter Expert (SME) on social science methodology and research practices: applies latest research methods and designs; offers guidance and recommendations on questions of research methodologies as needed.

Consults with research owners and manage client relationships, including: defining research requirements in terms of business objectives; provides guidance to clients regarding appropriate research goals and setting reasonable expectations for results; creates and delivers presentations to clients regarding research findings that are appropriate for a non-scientific audience.

Possesses strong written and oral communication skills, and the ability to interact with senior government officials

1. Serves as a top level technical or functional expert supporting one or more clients and unlimited user groups.


2. Performs highly specialized technical tasks associated with cutting-edge technologies.


3. Works with user groups to solve business problems with available technology including hardware, software, databases, and peripherals.


4. Applies expert functional knowledge and experience to significant business projects or processes.


5. May perform business development activities, including providing technical input to proposal efforts.


6. Provides guidance and training to less experienced staff.


7. May serve as a technical task or project leader.


8. May have supervisory responsibilities.


9. Maintains current knowledge of relevant developments in area of expertise.


10. Participates in special projects as required.

1. Bachelors Degree in a related discipline.


2. Masters Degree preferred.




- Experience conducting independent social science research.
- 3-5 years conducting research in an organizational setting (government, industry, non-profit, etc.)
- Possess basic working knowledge of statistics and/or data science.
- Experience developing schedules for large-scale and/or highly complex projects and programs, and leading large teams in executing these efforts.
