Senior Telecommunications Engineer

Overview:

Olgoonik Solutions, LLC, is seeking candidates for the position of Senior Telecommunication Engineer for the Liberian radio project to be performed overseas.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for solving problems, assessing situations and applying solutions with a high level of understanding, knowledge, and skills in the telecommunications, radio, microwave, and networking fields.
  • Must have advanced knowledge and ability to apply all applicable international, national, and local standards for installation and configuration of IP-based trunked radio and microwave network solutions.
  • Working knowledge of all safety standards required to facilitate network installation and oversee the entire workforce in a safe, secure, and healthy manner.
  • Responsible for conducting microwave and radio systems siting, installation and configuration, and commissioning support on a wide range of mobile and permanent radio systems. Included are systems such as: microwave links, radio repeaters, backup power, base stations, mobile radios and handheld radio sets.
  • Installation will be in austere remote areas with little to no outside support.
  • Disassemble and removal of old systems may be required.
  • Integration of new and old systems may be required.
  • Repair of legacy systems may be required to ensure new systems functionality.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • May supervise or direct junior personnel.

Education and/or Experience:

  • A bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, specializing in telecommunications or electronics or related technical field and ten (10) years of progressively complex work experience in the design, integration, analysis and installation of complex radio network equipment and systems.
  • Previous experience with CCTV, PAGA, LAN/WAN, radios, VSAT, and microwave, and network security systems required.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledgeable in radio network and microwave regulatory standards, codes and specifications applicable to installation and configuration of telecoms equipment.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization and with global, multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Flexible and able to adapt to changing work priorities and deliver high quality, accurate work with multiple deadlines under minimal supervision.
  • Interpersonal skills sufficient to positively influence staff and client are required.
  • Must demonstrate a good attitude and ability to work as a member of a team.
  • Position requires self-motivation and the ability to work effectively under minimum supervision.
  • Must be able to multi-task efficiently, work in a fast paced environment on multiple projects, and have a strong attention for detail.
  • Must have excellent organizational and planning skills.
  • Ability to work as part of a team and to meet deadlines.
  • Oral and written communication skills; analytical thinking skills.

Security Clearance:

SECRET Level Required

  • Must have a current US Government SECRET Personnel Security Clearance or be able to successfully complete a U.S. government administered Investigation.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Must also be able to maintain a US Government SECRET clearance.

The employee must occasionally lift and or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, and distance vision.

Travel:

This position is deployed up to 90% of the calendar year in Liberia. Domestic travel within Liberia is required for this particular project.

Work Environment:

Work is regularly performed outdoors in all types of weather conditions, including. May be exposed to extreme temperatures, hot and cold, as part of environmental factors. Work may be performed near moving mechanical parts and/or vibration. May be required to work in areas where high noise hazards prevail. Work is also performed indoors in an office/warehouse environment.
