Senior Systems Engineer

As the Senior System Engineer, you will be assigned to National Air and Space Intelligence Center (NASIC) located on Wright Patterson AFB, Ohio supporting the MASINT IT contract. You will perform system administration of all the systems that support NASIC.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintain servers, desktops, high-end workstations and system storage across multiple networks. The networks include JWICS, SIPRnet, NIPRnet, StoneGhost, Tungsten and Zinc.
  • System administration shall be performed across systems with both Windows and Linux (RHEL) operating systems.
  • Build and maintain images, patch systems, address system bugs, perform installation of Government-provided hardware and software, and perform system configuration.
  • Support and maintain server software; to include Citrix and Virtual Machine (VMware).
  • Support and maintain client side software, including ArcGIS, Satellite Tool Kit (STK), Matlab, Interactive Data Language (IDL), Google Earth and internet browsers.
  • Support and maintain storage systems across multiple networks. The storage systems include Hitachi and StorNext storage. Maintain enterprise level services including DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, LDAP, and patching through SCCM and RedHat (RHEL) Satellite Server.


Additional Responsibilities:

  • Manages and maintains three different VMware ESXi virtual machine host clusters. Creates new virtual machines and sets them up according to local and DoD configuration and security baselines.
  • Migrates analyst software and data off of end-of-life hardware onto virtual machine host hardware.
  • Maintains over 10 remote data-transfer links that support a 24/7 mission.
  • Supports the operations of several intelligence sensor simulators.
  • Hardware systems managed and maintained includes Dell R720 servers, Dell m1000e blade chassis, HP Z-series workstations, Hitachi HUS150 SAN cluster, Dell Compellent SAN cluster and legacy Oracle Sun desktops and servers.
  • Performs client systems support for the squadron of approximately 160 personnel. Support includes issues related to fiber connections, desktop computer problems, desk moves, and new monitor, mice and keyboards.
  • Works with developers to setup and integrate their software components into the existing squadron IT infrastructure, which includes setting up appropriate Linux-based operating system environments and ensuring that the proper system and network resources are made available to them.
  • Perform information assurance-related duties including maintaining DISA Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIG)-compliant systems and ensuring that all squadron-managed Linux systems have their appropriate patches and anti-virus updates applied to them on a regular basis.
  • Participates in regular meetings and working groups for the MASINT IT Team and related IT functions to include the Red Hat support planning.



Desired:

  • RHEL and VM recent experience
  • VDI experience (Horizon View)
  • AIX System experience a plus
  • VTC development and support

Qualifications:

  • Information Technology (IT) Degree plus 5 years of related experience.
  • US Citizenship is required
  • Active DoD TS/SCI clearance.
  • CCNA, Security+ Certification
  • When required must be willing to submit to an CI polygraph
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervisory direction
  • Interpersonal skills to enable working, interacting with technically and organizationally diverse personnel
  • Must have professional attitude, appearance, and possess excellent interpersonal and written communication skills
