Senior Program Manager for P59

The Senior Program Manager for P59 will report to the Director of Air Dominance. The PM will continue to perfect an execution strategy, establish goals, and plan activities for all aspects of the P59 effort and related technology development; plan for integration with core weapon system(s); and continue to develop potential offshoots to support associated weapon programs. The PM is accountable to the Program Director for overall success of the program, strict compliance with EX/IM and International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and security requirements, Raytheon company and customer success, on-time delivery, and for identifying and assisting in the development of new programmatic opportunities within the customer community. The PM will continue to identify critical employee skillsets needed for success and manage a broad program team with the ability to understand the need for establishing quality within the technology development process to support mature quality processes during integration/manufacturing. The PM will develop and maintain collaborative and responsive internal relationships with peers across the AMS product line, SAS, RMS Business Development, other external business partners (Labs, Industry platform teams), and corresponding functional leads for the product line, such as HR and Finance.

Key responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead a program team in the execution of a key enabler for a future franchise program. Responsible for overall program strategy and execution.
  • Manage NBI of approximately $10M and contract funding valued at approximately $45M.
  • Responsible for articulating to senior product line leadership the ongoing status on cost and schedule performance, R&Os and strategies for program execution.
  • Closely align P59 activities with final acquisition weapon system capture and execution.
  • Maintain collaborative and responsive relationships within the product line and with functional support organizations. Work closely with SAS teams supporting this technology.
  • Establish and grow working relationships with customers, industry partners, etc
  • Stay abreast of technical and programmatic progress and issues of program execution and defense acquisition planning.
  • Understand and represent customer needs to senior management, and be an advocate to internal and external customers.
  • Actively participate with Advanced Missile Systems counterparts in related gate reviews, color teams and Strategic Planning activities.
  • Grow US Government customer relationships to help “shape” technical requirements and acquisition strategies
  • Perform technical assessments and support other technology development teams as needed.
  • Identify new business opportunities; support businesses in pursuing lateral opportunities and supporting current programs that are critical to AMS/RMS/the company.

Required Skills:
  • Minimum 12+ years of direct related progressive experience in program management, preferably with significant Defense or Government experience
  • Active Secret Clearance eligible for compartmented material access, background check within the last 5 years with eligibility to obtain Top Secret status
  • Strong technical background in weapon system design, especially guidance and engagement subsystems

  • Experience managing defense development or acquisition programs.
  • Demonstrated success focusing on the needs of customers and delivering on those needs.
  • Demonstrated experience articulating customer positions, status, and strategies to senior management.
  • Proven ability to develop and maintain long term business relationships with customers and partners.
  • Demonstrated success working in a teaming environment with customers and internal partners.

Required Education (including Major):

• Bachelor’s degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM); Advanced degree preferred in either business or technical field.
