Senior Network Engineer

Job Description:

Leidos is seeking a Senior Network Engineer to support the ESA IV program. ESA IV is an IT Services program supporting several customers within the Department of Justice. The program provides a range of IT services, including help desk, deskside support, Windows engineering and maintenance, managed print services, ITSM, Account Management Services, Cybersecurity, Cloud technologies and other IT services. We need you to participate in fostering a DevOps culture, and building strong cross functional collaboration with all areas of development, product, and QA in a dynamic and fast paced environment supporting the development of a data pipeline and machine learning services.

Responsibilities Include:

  • Work with stakeholders to review and implement security policy on firewall devices.
  • Design, implement and maintain security standards/policies/procedures.
  • Participate in security zone architecture and on-going design changes to ensure adequate security protections while enabling business value and outcomes.
  • Implement designed solutions including device configurations while following a change management process.
  • Provide Network engineering in the design, development, and integration testing of the customer’s network with IPV6.
  • Perform as an IPV6 test and evaluation engineer.
  • Research for IPAM management tools.
  • Shaping decisions for our customer in the area of network design, administration, and thought leadership to become a trusted advisor.
  • Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, supportability, and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Troubleshoot network-related service issues including outages, anomalous behavior, and slow response class of problems.
  • Configure network equipment and services.
  • Produce network implementation and migration plans, and diagrams.
  • Test and support network enclaves in various stages of deployment.
  • Audit and assess network enclaves against customer service requirements and best practices.
  • Formulate network management strategies.
  • Produce and review technical documentation.
  • Provide recommendations to optimize network operation and performance.
  • Work with internal as well as customer project management and technical teams during design, development, and implementation phases of various network-related initiatives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree and 12+ years relevant work experience with a Telecommunication equipment Vendor, Service Provide, or a data center; additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Experience with IP Address management tools such as Infoblox, OpManager, Solarwinds.
  • The successful candidate is must have extensive experience with firewalls ( Cisco ASAs, NGFW) and an in-depth understanding of computer/network security concepts, VPNs, proxies, and networking.
  • Experience designing, deploying, and maintaining boundary security solutions and exposure to enterprise network architecture.
  • Experience analyzing network traffic, using a variety of network tools to assess security-related events to assist in rapid identification and isolation of issues during incidents and outages.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills specific to network security and ability to effectively work in cross functional teams as needed to resolve issues.
  • Must have the ability to analyze information from multiple sources and apply it to the operational environment in developing and maintaining the security posture of the network.
  • Experience with IPSEC, VPN, and SSL
  • Experience with IPV4 and IPV6 firewall rules. Evaluate, Design, and integration testing for firewall configuration and policies that include IPV6.
  • 10+ years of experience in traffic flow analysis, network management, network topology design, security, performance and fault tolerant architecture.
  • Professional level understanding and hands-on experience with: TCP/IP, OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, PIM, GRE, IPSec, DMVPN, NAT
  • Hands-on experience with the following Cisco routing and switching platforms: Catalyst 4500/6500/6800, Nexus 9k 7k, 5k, and 2k.
  • Hands-on experience with at least one of the following firewall platforms: Fortinet FortiGate, Cisco ASA
  • Hands-on experience with load balancers.
  • Experience configuring and monitoring LAN/WAN equipment, including routers, switches, firewalls, and load balancers.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco SSL-VPN, AnyConnect and policy configuration.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • The candidate must be a self-starter, disciplined worker and have a professional reputation for integrity.
  • Ability to adhere to the highest standards of ethics and professional conduct is a must.

Required Clearance: Candidate selected will be subject to a Government Public Trust security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements for access to the customer’s information. US Citizenship is required. Current clearance is not required, but selected individual cannot start the assignment until the required security clearance is granted by the customer.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience with AWS, Azure cloud environment.
  • Hands-on experience with Cisco / Tandberg VTC infrastructure equipment.
  • Good understanding of network and server virtualization.
  • Professional level understanding of common network security controls, especially firewalls and intrusion prevention systems.
  • Hands-on experience with Linux, BSD, or AIX systems is a plus.
  • Hands-on experience developing scripts using various shells and other scripting languages (for example Perl, Tcl, Expect) is a plus.
  • Professional level understanding of mobile device management frameworks such as AirWatch.
