Senior Network Engineer

Job Description

ASRC Federal Data Solutions has an immediate opportunity for a Senior Network (Voice/Data) Communications Specialist to join our team in San Antonio supporting the Defense Health Agency (DHA) in areas of network and security engineering.

  • Provide enterprise LAN and WLAN Engineering and Support Services that continuously improve the availability, capacity, continuity, performance and security of DHA and its partner's networks
  • Design, engineering, construct, develop, test, troubleshoot and evaluate network systems
  • Working knowledge of routing/switching utilizing Cisco, Brocade/Ruckus, and Juniper devices. Able to support Cisco/Aruba wireless, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA firewall, Remote Access VPN devices. In-depth understanding of Layer 2/3/4 switches, routers, and firewalls to include OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, VSS, AAA, TACACS, RADIUS, ACCOUNTING, VPN/IPsec, Spanning-tree, Load Balancing Layer 4/7 switches, Quality of Service (QoS) 802.1p, DSCP, DiffServ, IntServ, ToS, RSVP, COS, MOS, SONET Multiservice Provisioning Platforms, Application Proxy (Forward/Reverse) and caching, Firewalls, URL Web Filtering, Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, and Wireless IDS concepts and technologies.
  • Provide documentation/project tracking and management reporting.
  • Provide tactical and strategic input on overall network engineering and related projects.
  • Provide other technical support services as required.

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT technical field plus three (3) or more years of experience providing infrastructure engineering technical support services (e.g., engineering, strategy, planning, emerging technology evaluation, network security, installation configuration, troubleshooting, and reviewing network design packages). Additional years of experience can substituted in lieu of degree.
  • Knowledge/skills to work in a fast-paced, large, multi-vendor enterprise environment to include network/system and security planning, design, and troubleshooting.
  • Hands-on experience in routing/switching utilizing various technologies such as Cisco, Brocade/Ruckus, and Juniper devices. Able to support Cisco/Aruba wireless, Palo Alto, Cisco ASA firewall, Remote Access VPN devices. In-depth understanding of Layer 2/3/4 switches, routers, and firewalls to include OSPF, BGP, EIGRP, HSRP, VRRP, VSS, AAA, TACACS, RADIUS, ACCOUNTING, VPN/IPsec, Spanning-tree technologies.
  • Hands-on Cisco ISE, Cisco QoS, Cisco voice/wireless, Python scripting, NAPALM, GetVPN/LISP, MPLS skills a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Load Balancing Layer 4/7 switches; Quality of Service (QoS) 802.1p, DSCP, DiffServ, IntServ, ToS, RSVP, COS, MOS; SONET Multiservice Provisioning Platforms; Application Proxy (Forward/Reverse) and caching; Firewalls, URL Web Filtering, Network Intrusion Detection and Prevention Systems, and Wireless IDS concepts.
  • Previous experience supporting military health system (MHS) environment desired.
  • Minimum Security+ with CCNA or CCNA-Security Certification desired.
  • CCNP Certification a plus.
  • Active secret or ability to obtain secret clearance (US citizenship required).
