Senior Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

CACI is seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer that provides professional engineering support for the research and development of advanced state-of-the-art night vision devices and electronic sensors to support the Special Operations Community.  The candidate will support the U.S. Army Night Vision and Electronics Sensors Directorate (NVESD) Quick Reaction Branch (QRB) in the integration of advanced sensor technologies, virtual reality, augmented reality, mixed reality into revolutionary concepts that enhance special operator lethality while reducing the cognitive workload on the operator. 


What You’ll Get to Do:

  • The candidate will be utilized in support of program management tasks both as part of a team supporting programs as well as manager of his/her own portfolio. Primary contributions will be technical expertise, systems-level engineering and design, knowledge of contracts and programmatic issues, customer coordination, and risk mitigation and management
  • Employee will also be used as liaison to NVESD customers, including but not limited to SOCOM, as well as to industry. Employee will make recommendations of work that can be performed by QRB in support of customer requirements
  • Support a team tasked to design and build state-of-the-art night vision devices and electronic sensors
  • Coordinate with the Special Operations community to determine requirements and concepts for new products as well as understanding the evolution of tactics and techniques as new technologies are incorporated into special operations missions
  • Participate in and represent the Night Vision and Electronic Sensors Directorate positions in meeting and discussions with the Special Operations organizations and to commercial vendors
  • Author, review, and approve documents relating to sensor and night vision development, such as requirements documents, test and evaluation plans and reports, and engineering plans
  • Travel expected at least 25% of the time


You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from an accredited college/university
  • Ten years’ experience developing night vision devices and advanced electronic sensors
  • Ten years’ experience in the Special Operations Community
  • Ten years’ experience with the DoD Research and Development community
  • Experience with and understanding of commercial manufacturing processes and techniques
  • Experience with and understanding of Lean Six Sigma techniques
  • Experience with and understanding of Failure-Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA)
