Senior Manager- Electrical Engineering

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Engineering Manager in the Integrated Defense Systems (IDS) Electrical Design Directorate (EDD). The Department Manager will be responsible for the day-to-day operations of a Department with approximately 140 employees. This specific job opportunity is for the Department Manager of the Test Development Department (TDD). The work within this department includes the development and deployment of production and depot test capabilities for multiple domestic and international customers/programs. Development tasks include hardware and software design activities spanning a variety of technologies covering mixed signal, digital and FPGA design, firmware design, embedded software, Commercial Off The Shelf (COTS) hardware, fixturing design, development of test application software and integration of the test capability (HW and SW) with the Unit Under Test (UUT) .

This position will be located in Tewksbury, MA.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Planning, organizing, and directing Department tasking involved in the conception, design, and development of products in support of various programs
  • Developing short and long-term objectives and resources in alignment with technical and program requirements
  • Reviewing, approving and being accountable for proposed costs and work scope associated with new business
  • Managing the overhead budget and rate as well as multiple development and test laboratories.
  • Participating in program reviews (including but not limited to Estimates at Completion (EAC), Gate reviews, and tracking book meetings) in addition to providing leadership to troubled programs and will also participate in customer meetings
  • Personnel related duties include: manpower planning, performance reviews and people development, personnel training, recruiting, retaining, and mentoring key talent.
  • Supporting Directorate and Engineering initiatives in the areas of metrics collection, hardware process, training coordination, etc.
  • Primary interface between Senior Engineering Management and Department members and monitors section management operations ensuring technical, cost and schedule integrity is maintained on programs.
  • Supporting and executing the EDD vision of driving business growth through innovate and affordable solutions, technical leadership, flawless execution and electrical engineering expertise.

Basic/Required Qualifications:
  • Minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM
  • Experience in hardware and/or software design and development activities
  • Broad-based technical background with strong understanding of engineering fundamentals
  • Managerial experience
  • Experience with the development and implementation of test capabilities in a production and/or depot test environment
  • Prior leadership experience (e.g. IPT leads, CPT lead, Project Manager, Test Director, Section Manager, etc)
  • Earned Value Management Systems (EVMS) Certification or equivalent experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance (DoD)

Desired Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in STEM
  • Team leadership skills for multi-disciplined teams
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, communicating to program managers, functional managers, peers, team members, suppliers, and customers.
  • BOE developer/approver certification
  • Experience preparing technical and/or cost proposals, leading to the ability to critically review proposals
