Senior Lead Storage Administrator

Raytheon IIS/GIS provides Operations and Maintenance support for the Intelligence Community

Job Summary:
The Sr. Information Systems Technologist II (Senior/Lead Storage System Administrator) will provide systems administration support for operational storage and application environments. Will predominantly support Storage Area Networks (SAN) implemented with Brocade, Hitachi, Dell and EMC storage products. Will implement new concepts and procedures for operation of current systems and manage new acquisition and system deliveries. Performs advanced maintenance support tasks on software systems and products, including problem isolation, supporting users, and providing appropriate documentation. As a senior technical member of the team, this position will be expected to work independently in resolution of complex and escalated technical issues and document and coordinate installations by required system engineering processes. The position requires leading the storage team of 2 and mentoring of the junior members

Performs operating system upgrades, software (customer and COTS), IAVA and patch installation.

Provides users support for cross-domain and inter-system problems. Works with other team members and/or developers to investigate and solve problems identified within the systems. Performs system tuning, monitoring, metrics collection, etc. Adheres to configuration management policies. Work is performed under general direction.

This candidate works independently and determines and develops approaches and plans for system administration and storage architecture solutions. Works with team members achieving imaginative, thorough and practical solutions in a dynamic problem-solving environment. Will work in an open environment where frequent and direct interaction and collaboration with customers, users and peers is ordinary.

Qualified applicants will be subject to a security investigation and must meet minimum qualifications for access to classified information.

U.S. Citizenship and an active TS/SCI security clearance with CI polygraph are required.

Required Skills:
  • Must have experience performing systems administration functions for MS Windows and UNIX and/or Linux
  • Must have advance working knowledge of CIFS, NFS and Fiber Channel (Brocade preferred) protocols
  • Must have 6 or more years of administration experience including configuration of systems, system installation and configuration, and installation of vendor software products
  • Must have 4 or more years of experience writing scripts in at least two administrative languages (ksh, csh, perl, etc)
  • Experience with Storage Area Networking including large data archive and backup systems
  • Experience with Hitachi, Dell, NetApp and/or EMC storage products
  • Requires effective oral and written communication skills, and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Must have a current DODI 8570.01-M IAT Level II (minimum) certification or must obtain the certification within the first 60 days of employment.
Desired Skills:
  • Understands network routing and high performance concepts
  • Software engineering experience to include reviewing/editing/creating system lifecycle documentation (concept of operations, requirements, test plans and reports, version description documents, etc.)
  • Database development and administration experience.
  • Experience with distributed/parallel file systems such as StorNext, GPFS and/or QFS/SAMFS
  • Experience with Unix (Solaris and Linux) system high availability configurations.

Required Education (including Major):
  • With a bachelor’s degree, 6 years of relevant experience required. Without a bachelor’s degree, equivalent work experience (14 years) working in technical operations or engineering.
