Job Description:

The Mechanical Engineering Directorate (MED) leads in mechanical hardware design, development and production of radar, sonar, torpedo and combat system equipment. The MED uses state-of-the-art tools, processes technology and Raytheon Six Sigma principles.


U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.

This position can be a Salary Grade G08 or Salary Grade G09 based on the candidate's qualifications as they relate to the skills, experience and responsibility requirements for the positions.


The Failure Analysis section of the Materials Engineering Department is currently in need of an Senior Failure Analysis Engineer I in the field of Failure Analysis. The candidate will support Manufacturing Operations, Engineering Development and Field Returns providing root cause analysis. This individual should also be able to provide corrective / preventive recommendations to the customer as part of the analysis solution. The candidate’s duties will include but not be limited to the following:


- Work directly with Operation, Engineering and Whole Life teams as well as Raytheon suppliers

- Hands on failure analysis approach, providing an engineering sustaining support function

- Production Component Failure Trending


Required Skills:

  • 4+ years of experience working with Components, CCAs and Electronic Assemblies including CCA design and mixed signal design
  • Electrical Failure Analysis on component CCA's and subassemblies.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.

Desired Skills:

  • Masters of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (MSEE)
  • Knowledge of the FRACAS System Working knowledge of military and commercial electrical and environmental
  • Specifications Ability to read schematics and perform circuit analysis and possess basic hands on troubleshooting skills
  • Self-motivated and possess good communication skills, especially in documenting failures, evaluation of results and generating formal reports
  • Adaptable and willing to work varying assignments
  • Customer focused and close out projects completely Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word/Excel/Access/Project)

Required Education:

  • BS in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) or a related technical major
