ECS is looking for an experienced, passionate, and driven Sr. Cloud Architect to drive existing capabilities in areas focused on design, architecture, DevSec/GitOps, big data, and security to deliver transformational and scalable cloud solutions in DoD Space

We now have an exciting opportunity for a Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team in supporting a large DoD program with the following roles and responsibilities

  • As a Cloud Solutions Architect (CSA), you will be tasked in being a cultural change agent for a multi-cloud adoption
  • Work with SMEs and other functional experts in developing and coordinating on cloud architecture, design, and implementations
  • Developing cloud strategies and adaptation processes to facilitate agility, flexibility, and best in class capability when migrating applications or developing new solutions
  • Engage with government leadership to grow partnerships and drive transformational activities

 
Essential Responsibilities

  • Provide thought and technical design leadership to cloud solutioning
  • Lead information technology SMEs and engage with business operations in management of cloud services, providers, and platforms
  • Evaluate and assess solutions to make recommendations
  • Act as a change agent for technologies and processes to maximize results measured by performance, availability, business agility, technology freshness, and cost optimization
  • Spearhead cloud application architecting sessions in evaluating tradeoffs between design, risk, and technology
  • Oversee the facilitation of industry best practices for security, compliance and accreditation processes, as well as engaging information assurance teams in validating solutions, mitigating risk, and implementing incident-response procedures
  • Execute proof of concept and technical feasibility assessments for cloud solutions
  • Apply advanced technical knowledge and skills in developing solutions where complexity, innovation and technical expertise mix
  • Migrate existing on-premises applications to cloud, leveraging cloud and logistical best practices
  • Design and integrate products across singular, hybrid, and cloud agnostic environments
  • Develop processes and procedures for application and managed service migrations to the cloud

 
As part of the Cloud Solution Architects role, you will be focused on solution and development, inclusive of:

  • You will lead and facilitate information gathering sessions with multiple departmental and/or sub-agency heads and technical leaders to discover and assess the current state infrastructure, validate business cases, and document business and functional objectives
  • Through various communication vehicles and methods (e.g., meetings, application demos, emails, workshops, etc.) develop, innovate and implement technical solutions for multiple cloud projects including migration of existing applications/capabilities and users, and/or provision of new applications/capabilities and users
  • Recommend technology strategy by understanding key client objectives; diagnosing and mapping client requirements; articulating solution risks and barriers; recommending delivery approaches; preparing time estimates; planning full project life cycle
  • Develop, contribute, and evaluate technical proposals related to cloud migrations and implementations
  • Provide expertise to construct the architecture and solutions to support current and future business needs, and to ensure the successful implementation and adoption of service
  • Develop and implement activities, such as but not limited to, sequencing, architecture, assumptions, workshops, briefs, dependencies and agency buy-in that shall include an end-to-end view of the overall implementation approach to migrate current and future systems and users to cloud platform services
  • Manage budgets and estimate costs
  • Throughout the projects you will participate in status meetings on progress, priorities, issues, performance issues, and future work.

Required Skills:

  • Must be a US Citizen
  • Must have an Active Top-Secret Clearance
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems Management or similar preferred
  • 8+ years’ experience with Systems/Cloud Administration and Engineering; planning, architecting, and engineering enterprise class systems and services.
  • In depth knowledge and hands on experience with the full range of cloud service providers/solutions, inclusive of AWS, Microsoft Azure, and/or Google Cloud offerings
  • Strong understanding of scalable computing systems, software architectures, data structures, and algorithms
  • Amazon Web Services (AWS) Solutions Architect Professional Certification (or demonstrated ability and willingness to achieve certification shortly after hire)
  • Experience in consulting to C level leadership and client focused engagements
  • Proven experience in assessment, evaluation, and documentation of client environment, infrastructure, processes, and operations
  • Proven experience in communicating and demonstrating the value of cloud solutions to a variety of stakeholders to address complex and competing drivers in complex technical environments, with a track record of buy-in and successful implementation, migration, change management, and full adoption.
  • Proven ability to lead change across large platforms using innovative technology solutions
  • Demonstrated abilities in strategic thinking and leadership with strong relationship management ability
  • Demonstrated experience automating production cloud workloads
  • Familiarity with provisioning tools such as Ansible, Puppet, Salt, Terraform, and/or Pulumi
  • Demonstrated hands on experience developing solutions with cloud orchestration tools
  • Strong scripting skills (Python, Ruby, Perl, Bash, Powershell, etc.)
  • Strong knowledge of Networking Infrastructure, Security and Compliance practices, Database Tools (Relational/Non-Relational Databases)
  • Demonstrated experience administering Linux OSes
  • Familiarity with Monitoring Tools such as Splunk, DataDog, and/or Elastic Stack
  • Familiarity with Docker/Kubernetes and/or Rancher tooling
  • Demonstrated experience with the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA and REST)
  • Proven ability to lead change across large platforms / functional areas using innovative technology solutions
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Communicates clearly and effectively, inclusive of evaluating all information prior to making decisions
  • Anticipates risks and obstacles and develops plans for mitigation
  • Develops actionable strategies and operational plans
  • Champions and drives change initiatives
  • Confronts difficult problems in a positive and creative way
  • Balances multiple and competing priorities and executes accordingly
