Senior Chemist 2

The Engineering Science Division of ARA is seeking a Senior Chemist to join our progressive and passionate team. The qualified applicant will have a PhD in chemistry or related field and 10+ years’ experience in the preparation, analysis and safe handling of homemade and conventional explosives.  Applicant must be a U.S. citizen with the ability to obtain a DoD Security Clearance and a DHS Suitability Clearance.

The Senior Chemist shall be responsible for the synthesis of all energetic materials and analytical activities. The Senior Chemist shall be responsible for interacting with the client and the explosives community for determining the coordination of the group’s activities. The development of test plans is conducted by the Senior Chemist in close collaboration with the Program Manager and the Safety Officer. The Senior Chemist shall work closely with others to procure materials and equipment, provide relevant training, and properly dispose of chemical waste. The Senior Chemist shall be responsible for compiling and disseminating the group’s work via publications, presentations, and technical reports. The Senior Chemist must be able to synthesize sensitive homemade explosives (HME) in large quantities and be familiar with synthesis using remote manufacturing techniques.
