Raytheon Applied Signal Technology (RAST) seeks a SEIT Engineer who will be responsible for development, integration, test and deployment of systems for a variety of government missions. This systems engineer will collaborate with customers, RAST senior leadership, other systems engineers and software/hardware/FPGA engineers to develop new systems and Concepts of Operations as well as troubleshoot, enhance and maintain existing systems. In addition, this engineer will lead and perform the installation and field test of new technology systems in customer facilities to ensure customer mission success.The SEIT Engineer will be able to:- Exhibit a unique degree of ingenuity, creativity & resourcefulness
- Rapidly come up to speed on existing products, systems and capabilities that relate to areas of current and new development
- Demonstrate a strong understanding of IC &/or DoD customer missions
- Lead the technical engagement with the customer & associated stakeholders as well as provide consultation to other senior systems engineers, designers, program managers, and business leadership
- Understand customer objectives and requirements, and conceptualize and put into practice new solutions
- Brief those solutions to the customer community as the customer concepts evolve into firmer requirements and expectations
- Work collaboratively with Engineering, Business Development, Program Management & technical staff to capture, plan & execute program work
- Define, analyze and document CONOPS, system requirements and specifications, and system architecture
- Generate concrete plans for loosely defined and/or highly complex challenges to enable engineering teams to execute and deliver solutions accordingly
- Lead teams of engineers to develop and integrate software, hardware and FPGA components and platforms to form new solutions
- Create the appropriate systems documentation (e.g. RVTM, I&T plans, acceptance test plans/procedures, test reports) required to develop, integrate, test and deliver to meet customer objectives
- Provide technical, system operation and training support
- Communicate with customer throughout the systems/product development lifecycle to ensure satisfaction of customer objectives within cost and schedule constraints
- Lead proposal preparation and program definition
- Be a mentor to less experienced engineers
Required Skills:- 10+ years of experience in systems engineering/integration and product development
- Practical experience in digital signal processing algorithms and implementation
- Extensive experience in broadband communications including telecommunications, networking, network operations, transport structures and switching equipment; or deep understanding of a related area and the demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly on new equipment
- Practical experience in the development, integration and deployment of software, hardware and FPGA-based components and subsystems in advanced products and systems
- Experience with enterprise-level telecom equipment, both in configuration and concepts of operation
- Experience leading cross-discipline (e.g., software, hardware and FPGA) engineering teams to develop, integrate and deploy advanced products and systems for government missions
- Experience in applying domain knowledge, including missions, technologies and system architectures & implementations, to synthesize approaches to meet customer challenges and CONOPs
- Practical experience in systems integration and test of software-intensive systems
- Experience as an individual contributor and/or technical lead in all phases of systems/product development life cycle
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communications skills
- Strong presentation and collaboration skills, especially in working with senior leadership, and external customers
- Able to travel as needed to customer sites or other RAST offices (approximately 25%)

- Extensive experience in broadband communications including telecommunications, networking, network operations, transport structures and switching equipment; or deep understanding of a related area and the demonstrated ability to come up to speed quickly
- Practical experience in development and implementation of distributed processing architectures which address large-scale system issues, including processing and storage architectural tradeoffs, dataflow bottlenecks, delivery latency and database performance
- Understanding of communications signal processing including the following areas: RF communications, optical communications, propagation, receivers, modulation and demodulation
- Experience in development and implementation of digital signal processing algorithms, application software and embedded software for hardware platforms
- Experience in development of communications systems architectures
- Experience in some or all of these areas:
- Test automation design and development
- Continuous software integration and build tools (e.g. Jenkins)
- Low level-to-high level integration for software intensive systems/products
- Development of test requirements, plans, and procedures
- Execution of test procedures and generation of test results and reports
- Extensive experience in one or more of the following: systems development, software development, hardware development, mission support
- Demonstrated ability to work at the conceptual level and work with program leads, customers and internal teams to ensure successful system development, integration and deployment
- Experience in supporting business development efforts (such as generating technical content for proposals and ROMS as well as writing white papers to address new market areas)
- Proven ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and priorities
