Idaho National Laboratory (INL) is seeking a Security System Technician to performs complex installations, preventative, and corrective maintenance on the following electronic security systems: closed circuit television video equipment, balanced magnetic switches, infrared intrusion detection, microwave sensors, card reader access control systems, X-ray machines, explosive detectors, radar systems and fiber optic systems in accordance with Department of Energy (DOE) orders, Security Systems procedures, federal specifications, NRC regulations, and best business practices.

This position may require overtime and call-outs that are dictated by program needs. Contributions are of sufficient value to have direct impact on the outcome of the entire project. Trains, guides, and mentors junior technicians and other technical staff on electronic and electromechanical equipment troubleshooting and installation methods.

Responsible for periodically reviewing operational logs and databases to identify maintenance issues and implement corrective actions.

Often acts as a job supervisor per work control process LWP-6200. This responsibility identifies and provides work direction to security systems maintenance personnel over a wide variety of work tasks including but not limited to installations, modifications, preventative maintenance, and corrective maintenance.

Writes work orders per work control procedures for work team when the assigned lead is not available. This responsibility uses the computerized maintenance management system to identify priority, work scope, and to identify and mitigate hazards.

Minimum Qualification Requirements (Education and/or Experience):
High School Diploma or Equivalent plus 7 years relevant experience or a Vocational Certification plus 5 years relevant experience or an Associate’s degree in electronics and 2 years relevant experience or a relevant Advanced degree.
Must be able to complete and maintain the Physical Security Systems Technician training qualifications.
Must be able to work in confined spaces, climb ladders and towers, travel independently, work extended hours, and stand for extended periods, required.
Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a DOE Q security clearance and Human Reliability Program (HRP) certification.
Must possess, excellent written and oral communication skills.
Disposition must be suited to working in a team environment and maintaining positive and cooperative customer relations.

Special Requirements and/or Training:
Must have a broad knowledge of computer function and application including computer hardware, peripherals, networking, and software.
