Section Manager – SS EO Electronics

Job Description:
The Space Systems EO Electronics Department is currently seeking an Electrical Engineering Section Manager in El Segundo, CA.

Required Skills:
This section manager position is responsible for leading a highly motivated groups of 10-20 analog/mixed signal engineers working on a variety of development and production products. The Section Manager's primary responsibility is to ensure that work scope assigned to team members is compliant to performance, cost and schedule requirements. Included in this is the responsibility to provide and use enabling tools, best practices and processes for effective and efficient execution of the work scope. The Section Manager will be responsible to ensure development, verification and on-time delivery of quality work products, accurate and approved inputs to business development and growth opportunities, applicable content for Gates and Independent Reviews (IRs), balanced program staffing and staff retention, and progressive skill growth and career development of section team members. Business development and growth will include generation of Basis of Estimate (BOE) to support proposals and Estimate to Complete (EAC) requirements including preparation and presentation of Bid and EAC Review packages to Department and HWEC Leadership. The Section Manager will interact frequently with multi-disciplined team leads, Chief Engineers and Program Managers to ensure that team members are meeting the needs of our internal and external customers. The section manager will also be responsible for providing each team members performance appraisals as well as merit increases.

The section manager shall be a highly motivated “self-starter” able to lead by example, possessing strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills, and maintain positive relationships & satisfaction with Programs leadership (Engineering and Program Management).
  • Minimum 10 years’ professional experience
  • Experience/participation in proposal development (Cost and Technical)
  • Broad based hardware engineering background.
  • Excellent Interpersonal and Multi-tasking Skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience with program cost and schedule monitoring and reporting
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date.
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will require the ability to access US only data systems.
  • Ability to obtain an SSBI clearance within 60 days

Desired Skills:
  • Familiar with space hardware execution in all phases of hardware product development, integration, verification, transition to production
  • 5 + years experience in Task Management or other Lead role on Large Development jobs
  • Experience as an IPT or CPT Lead
  • EVMS Certified and professional exposure to EVMS or similar budget tracking system
  • Prior experience in Defense or Aerospace
  • Possess an active SSBI/TS clearance

Required Education:
BS in Electrical Engineering, Physics, or very close equivalent discipline and at least eight to ten years of relevant experience in electronics design, including at least five years of design for military applications.

Desired Education:
Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering, Physics or close equivalent discipline is a plus. 136274
