Description:



As a Satellite Electrical Engineer, provide electrical and systems engineering technical assistance within a Government Program Office for component, subsystem, and overall spacecraft manufacturing, integration, and test. Initial responsibilities will focus on electrical power regulation and distribution systems and may adjust as the spacecraft progresses through integration and test towards launch.

Key duties/responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

- Work in an interactive team environment with Government customer leads, spacecraft developers, and other subject matter experts.
- Evaluate circuit card and electronic unit design, troubleshoot performance anomalies, and diagnose test failures. Develop mitigation plans and identify impacts to subsystems and spacecraft performance.
- Provide analysis support for electrical power generation, storage, regulation, distribution systems, along with environmental, acoustic, shock, mass properties, deployment, reliability, and mission assurance, to verify the satellite design will satisfy the system requirements.
- Perform requirements flow-down and traceability and evaluating the verification test results to satisfy requirements.
- Apply engineering knowledge to monitor component and subsystem manufacturing, and evaluate performance and environmental test results.
- Apply engineering knowledge to monitor/assess spacecraft subsystem technical performance within cost and schedule constraints. Identify risks to program plans and schedules, support development of corrective action plans and conduct Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) technical evaluations.
- Participate in Failure Review Boards (FRBs) to adjudicate and resolve anomalies by direct fact finding, audits, inquiries, and investigations of processing, testing, or operational failures.
- Assist in ensuring compliance to interfaces and standards or that appropriate deviations/waivers are in place.
- Assist in requirements development and preparation of Request for Proposal (RFP) documentation as required (SOWs, CDRLs and specifications).
- Travel within the U.S. 1-2 times per month for approximately 4 days per trip.

Qualifications:

TYPICAL EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

- Bachelors and fourteen (14) years or more experience; Masters and twelve (12) years or more experience; PhD or JD and nine (9) years or more experience.

Required Qualifications:

- BS in Electrical Engineering or other engineering degree with extensive EE experience
- 10 or more years of engineering experience with satellite bus systems (e.g. circuit design, electronic unit design and diagnostics, power regulation and distribution, space batteries, solar cells)
- Experience working in satellite system program office or a satellite development facility
- Excellent written and oral communication skills

Desired Qualifications:

- MS in Engineering
- Experience with multiple satellite programs and a variety of satellite busses
- Experience with early life-cycle satellite engineering activities/milestones, spacecraft integration and test, and Launch and Initialization (L&I) activities
