RMT Lead IPTL & Flight Test Project Manager

Job Description:
Raytheon Space and Airborne Systems (SAS) is the provider of AESA Radar Systems which provide the war fighter with the most accurate and timely information available for the network-centric battlefield. The Systems Engineering Integration and Test Center (SEIT) organization is seeking committed engineering leaders who are passionate about creating innovative and cost-effective solutions for the warfighter.

We are seeking a lead RMT Flight Test Project Manager and Lead Integrated Product Team Lead (IPTL) for the Tactical Radar Systems Department as a key contributor to multiple mission areas to advance SAS flight test projects and initiatives.

The Lead RMT Flight Test Project IPTL will be responsible for overseeing SAS flight test project assignments and oversight of RMT project planning and execution across multiple SAS Mission Areas. The candidate must be able to lead and develop RMT IPTLs flight test projects through the execution phases of the Raytheon IPDS process from Gate 5 Startup through Gate 11 Closure. This position requires both systems engineering and business acumen to ensure execution within cost, schedule, and performance requirements. This position must ensure overall RMT IPTL work products and systems integration comply with program instructions and requirements.

This role requires experience in defining requirements, modification, design, and integration planning, system integration, and flight test execution. Flight Test Project leadership roles include coordinating all resources required to perform the IV&V tasks as well as Raytheon Multi-program (RMT) testbed projects and proposals. This position also plays key roles in concept definition and program planning to deliver cost effective solutions that meet customer requirements. The Lead RMT IPTL must be able to quickly integrate with Engineering teams, Integrated Product Team Leads, and cross-functional disciplines to ensure successful execution of the flight test plans and objectives.

Responsibilities also include:
  • Manage project cost and schedule, report periodic earned value and provide quarterly EACs to the program office and functional leadership team
  • Develop detailed flight test procedures based on the test plans, test requirements, final product design, and the specific test assets to be used
  • Develop test equipment requirements and define test configurations, interfaces, and special fixtures necessary to meet the test requirements
  • Verify that the configurations of the system under test, test assets, test procedures, and reduction/analysis tools are documented and captured
  • Ensure that all tests are completed in accordance with the contract, test procedures, standard processes, and applicable regulations
  • Communicate test results to management, customer test representatives, and the rest of the engineering team.
  • Conduct flight test readiness reviews (FTRR) to review and document configurations, verify readiness, and approve the start of formal flight testing
  • Facilitate review of test results and anomalies
  • Collaborate with Program Chief Engineers to ensure that a system verification plan is executed and that all resources are available to perform the system verification tasks

Required Skills:
  • 12+ years of engineering and leadership experience
  • Strong leadership, communication, project management, and financial management experience
  • Experience with airborne system requirements, integration, and test
  • Experience with product design and systems engineering processes
  • Flight Test experience
  • Able to work in a high paced, high demand environments
  • Candidate must be able to work occasional flexible non-standard hours (ie – 2nd shift, 3rd shift, and weekends) for flight test support at Ontario, CA
  • Demonstrated problem solving abilities through team leadership
  • Experience in system-level IV&V of hardware and software products
  • BS or MS Degree in Engineering, Math, Science or related technical discipline
  • Existing Secret security clearance
  • U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment.

Required Education:
BS Degree in Engineering, Math, or Physics

Desired Education:
MS in Engineering or Computer Science, formal aviation related qualifications, EV Certified, PM Level 6 Certified 136934
