Remote LCC Engineering Lead, #4352

LinQuest Corporation is seeking a Remote LCC Engineering Lead to join our team at Vandenberg AFB.

 

You will work on the systems engineering and integration (SE&I) contract in support of the US Air Force Space and Missile Systems Center (SMC), Launch Enterprise Systems Directorate (SMC/LE).  This effort includes overarching integration of launch and range programs which will require interfacing with both the EELV and any future SMC/LE launch systems.

SMC/LE's mission also includes mission assurance and launch safety. 

 

The position is full time on-site at Vandenberg Air Force Base (VAFB) and requires an active TS/SCI clearance.  You will work onsite, co-located and closely integrated with the Government Customer.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Provide facility systems engineering to include risk assessment, monitoring and reporting on status of projects, operations and maintenance of Bldg. 8510 Remote Launch Control Center (RLCC) and associated mission support systems
  • Perform RLCC integration in support of launch operations, mission events, and 30 OG Mission Assurance, Fleet Surveillance, and New Entrant Certification activities
  • Evaluate the RLCC architecture plan, provide configuration management of current architecture, and manage the facility systems baseline for communication, video, data transmission, emergency management, power and backup power (UPS and generator), HVAC, structural, water/sewage, other systems upgrades and proposed modifications IAW source requirements documents
  • Conduct engineering analyses, planning, design review, and studies to identify any facility requirement shortfalls and provide capability assessments, concepts of operations, and risk assessments to ensure RLCC readiness to meet mission needs
  • Technically analyze RLCC user-requested changes and provide recommended implementation options to 30 OG
  • Analyze the requested changes within the context of RLCC requirements and develop system designs, implement system updates, and document changes to baseline RLCC drawings, documentation, and the Facility Requirements Document
  • Conduct RLCC project management, surveillance, testing, quality control inspections, assess project documentation, maintain and/or oversee all entries into the 30 OG Facilities and Asset Management Database (FIDB), and produce reports as required by the 30 OG
  • Update facility floor plans, systems configuration, create and manage facility checklists, maintain a list of systems specifications, history of issues, equipment demarcations, and life expectancy of associated equipment
  • Maintain a current facility system continuity “smart book” containing building reports, schedules, work orders, facility layouts, drawings/schematics including redlines, and relevant electronic files for ancillary equipment in support of the launch mission
  • Deliver an integrated schedule of RLCC projects and provide recommendations for de-confliction of issues affecting utilization of the RLCC

Required Skills: 

  • Ability to lead multi-task programs, prioritize tasks, and quickly adjust in a rapidly changing environment within the space and LV industries
  • Active participation in launch planning and processing at VAFB
  • Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills
  • Clear and concise written, verbal communications and presentation skills
  • Ability to clearly articulate ideas, recommendations and options to the customer
  • Ability to coordinate with numerous stakeholders/customers from DoD agencies to commercial industry
  • Knowledgeable in the use and application of MS Office suite – specifically project, word and excel

 

Preferred Skills:

  • Project or Acquisition Management
  • Detail oriented and the ability to organize, prioritize and address multi program schedules simultaneously
  • Ability to learn and adapt to the use of new tools that may be used in future LE activities

 

 

Required Experience:

  • Four-year degree in engineering or physical science
  • 10+ years’ experience in space/LV planning, testing, operations and oversite
  • Must have an active TS/SCI clearance to be considered for this position.

 

Preferred Experience:

  • Combination of USAF Space System Acquisition experience
  • Requirements management and technical baseline management
