Northrop Grumman is currently seeking experienced Composite Technicians for our R&D Engineering Team in our Magna, UT location (HTS) with emphasis on the following:
Lamination
Assembly
Bonding
Job Duties:
Maintain inventory (tooling, equipment, NEI material, direct material, SMI instrument)
Tool preparation using solvents
Use of chemicals with proper PPE
Material preparation (thawing,cutting, inventory, etc.)
TC weld & verify / Vacuum portassembly / Vacuum port leak check
Solid lamination / Bagging / Ovenand A/C Cure
Sandwich panel construct / Bag /Cure (perimeter dams or tapered core)
Film adhesive and paste bonding
Execute work orders / Project assignments
Participate in and support failure investigations
Track individual metrics,maintain notebook, capture lessons learned and undocumented process details
Build pathfinder samples / tests/ prototype articles for engineering
Evaluate and participate in process readiness fornew programs
Generate and update labprocedures
Implement corrective actions andprocess improvements
Implement cost improvementinitiatives
Train / cross train and assistnew interns / temps / and new hires
Demonstrated ability to lead a team
Administrative duties relative to project management
Basic Requirements:
3years of composites, aerospace, or manufacturing experience required
Must hold and maintain a secret or higher security clearance
Must be able to successfully obtain and maintain program clearance(s)
Familiar with composite process technologies (i.e. bagging, lamination, bonding, etc.)
Must be able to communicate concepts, ideas and procedural steps to others in a clear, concise and effective manner
Proficient in Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Able to operate power equipment (i.e. machines, cranes, forklifts, semi or automated machines; industrial equipment; etc.)
Able to follow procedures and make buys
Must have Hands-on / Mechanicalaptitude (e.g. farming, home building, auto repair, landscaping, etc.)
Able to read and interpretEngineering models / drawings
Innate problem solving skills
Able to make informed decisions using available data
Ability to manage work toschedule, budget, & priority
Able to deal effectively withstress and conflict
Willing to work unconventionalshifts occasionally to complete assignments
Education/Certifications:
Preferred Skills and Qualifications:
Knowledge of automated equipment, technology and processing
Composite material manufacturing technology of hand lay-up and cure, machining of composite components, inspection (non-destructive and laser inspection techniques) and composite assembly (including bonded and fastened assembly methods) experience
3D Printing and Parametric Modeling fundamentals
