Supports the Air Force 35 Civil Engineering Squadron (35 CES) at Kadena Air Base, Japan, working with the Army Corps of Engineers.

Job Description:

The Project Manager will work as part of our company’s on-site engineering team to assist across a variety of repair and construction projects. The Project Manager will work with various clients, functional experts, and contractors to anticipate project needs, proactively develop project documents, and communicate effectively. Project Manager will liaison with the Army Corps of Engineers or other design agencies and coordinate projects with team members and other stakeholders and contractors in a variety of disciplines on technical issues throughout the project lifecycle. Project Manager may also provide facility programming support, data management, facility condition assessment, and/or energy/environmental support as needed.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities (Deliverables):

Includes the following (Other duties may be assigned):

  • Project Manager will be responsible for managing or assisting with the planning, programming, acquisition, and execution of assigned repair and construction projects. Project work will include analysis and application of UFC and Japan-specific codes to design and construction facilities. 
  • Provide Planning, Programming, Engineering, Production Control, Inspection, and Project Management support.
  • Must be able to work with a wide cross section of clients (e.g., engineers, real property, contracting) and Cherokee employees to find solutions for the repair, modernization, and construction of military and civilian facilities and infrastructure.
  • Perform other job-related duties as required.

Supervisory/Management Authority:

Provide mentorship, peer review assistance, and technical and professional leadership to colleagues.

Education and/or Experience:

  • At least three years of relevant experience working with US military/DoD facilities and requirements.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant field, or equivalent experience; advanced degree is a plus. Experience may be substituted for degree.
  • PMP desired.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:  (example: specific software, soft skills, etc. – This gets deleted)

  • Experience managing programs with similar complexity with US Air Force, Army, Navy, or Marine Corps.
  • Demonstrated track record of working across disciplines such as contracting, engineering, finance, contractors, and stakeholders so proactively manage project cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a US Air Force NACI/SF85 for unescorted access to on-base facilities.
  • Excellent English communication and computer skills.


  • Office environment on US military base in Japan.
  • Requires local travel to project sites in and near Misawa AB, Japan.
