Project Manager


Job Description:

The Civilian Customer Group of SAIC is seeking a highly qualified Project Manager (PM) to lead a staff of 25 -50 IT personnel on a large federal Information Technology (IT) contract in Albuquerque, NM. The Project Manager will be required to work as part of a program management team consisting of a Program Manager, five other project managers, a Business Manager, and an administrative assistant.
This key role plans, directs, and coordinates the operational and tactical activities of individuals responsible for the delivery of information processing and telecommunications services; establishes objectives and plans for the team’s operations; identifies and assembles the optimal combination of personnel, technologies, and methodologies to meet current and near-term requirements; translates organizational objectives into work plans; and creates contingency plans to meet changes in business circumstances.

The successful candidate will work closely with the government technical leadership, customer organizations and the SAIC Program Manager. The PM duties will include interfacing with the customer organizations; meeting technical and schedule requirements; directing and/or supervising personnel; risk management; and serving as a liaison between the SAIC technical team and the customer.


Required Qualifications: 
  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or equivalent experience (12 years of practical experience).
  • Four + years of management experience overseeing IT personnel and projects.
  • Areas of management expertise to include software development & integration, and infrastructure support. Experience establishing best practice guidelines and standardizing processes with expertise in ITIL.
  • Current or in pursuit of Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification.
  • Strong facilitation expertise with experience and comfort with managing small to very large project groups through complex concepts/issues.
  • Experience working with stakeholders at various levels and functional areas.
  • Strong writing and presentation development skills, with an ability to produce high-quality deliverables created through collaboration.
  • Excellent analytical skills to uncover root causes to issues.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience developing metrics to measure success of process improvement initiatives.
  • Candidate must be local to Albuquerque, NM area, or willing to relocate to Albuquerque area.
  • Security clearance requirement: Candidate can start uncleared but must be able to obtain and maintain a Department of Energy (DoE) Q Clearance.  Active DOE L,Q or Department of Defense (DOD) Top Secret/Secret is desired. 
Desired Qualifications:
  • ITIL certification.
  • Department of Energy National Laboratory experience highly desired.
