Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Project Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, Florida.

Essential Functions:

  • Performs technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, cost and risk, and supportability and effectiveness analyses for total systems.
  • Analyses are performed at all levels of total system product to include: concept, design, fabrication, test, installation, operation, maintenance and disposal.
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer or product requirements into total systems solutions that acknowledge technical, schedule, and cost constraints.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications.



Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline and 2+ years of software engineering experience OR-
  • Master's Degree in STEM and 0 years of experience
  • An active Secret DoD Clearance with an investigation in the past 5 years and the ability to obtain special program access prior to start.

  • Overtime, odd shifts, and weekend work will occasionally be required.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) discipline from an accredited university OR Pursuing Master's degree, STEM field desired.
  • Active, In-scope DoD Top Secret or SCI clearance.

  • Use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform professional tasks.

  • Develops recommended solutions to technical problems as assigned.

  • Experience in the developmental/operational test maintenance environment:

    • Aircraft Design

    • Aircraft Avionics & Electrical Systems

    • Aircraft Testing

  • Experience as Project Manager/Program Engineer in Baseline Management, Program Change, Change Integration, Risk and Opportunity Management, and Risk Management Analysis.

  • General frequent use and application of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts and techniques. Demonstrates the skill and ability to perform moderately complex professional tasks.

  • Provides solutions to a variety of technical problems of increasing scope and complexity as assigned. Work is reviewed for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy.

  • Contributes to the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.

  • Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team environment.

  • Basic communication, analysis and problem solving skills displayed. Noted contributions to program/project upon completion of assigned tasks. Experience preparing and briefing managers, senior program leadership and customers.

  • Use and/or application of technical principles, theories, and concepts.

  • Completes work satisfactory with for soundness of technical judgment, overall adequacy and accuracy under general supervision.

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and MS Project.
