Program Analyst (Lackland AFB, TX)

Applied Research Associates (ARA), Inc. has a contingent opportunity for a full-time Program Analyst at the US Air Force Security Forces Center, located on Lackland AFB, TX.  The successful applicant will conduct research, assemble data, process results, participate in the development of studies and analysis, development of strategic plans, and prepare reports and presentations in support of a full scale Capabilities Based Assessment (CBA) and overall program objectives.  This person must be able to think creatively and challenge conventional thinking over a wide variety of government related projects focusing on studies and analysis that leverage related efforts across US Air Force Security Forces programs to meet objectives for greater integration and inter-operability.  This requires someone who has strong potential to develop good analytical skills and problem solving abilities as well as a person who can be effective in a cross-functional setting. The mid-level analysts’ duties include supporting functional and technical assessments across the US Air Force Security Forces mission areas and analysis in the following areas: 

  • Analysis of Alternatives (AoA)
  • Capability Based Assessments (CBAs)
  • Joint Capabilities Integration and Development System (JCIDS)
  • Functional Analysis 

Program Analyst will be responsible for research and analysis pertaining to the support of US Air Force Security Forces capability/technology studies and analysis, program management, and execution.  In addtion, the analyst are responsible for supporting technical writing.


Primary Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to studies and analysis in support of a US Air Force CBA
  • Complete multiple tasks with limited supervision
  • Conduct detailed investigative research, data collection and summary memos
  • Take initiative to advance studies and analysis and build approaches to meeting objectives with only minimal direction
  • Work effectively under deadlines and manage multiple projects with evolving requirements
  • Manage personal schedule, complete assigned tasks on time and document billing time to clients accurately


Basic Qualifications: 

  • Must hold an Active DoD Secret security clearance (*ARAClear)
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • 6-8 years DoD JCIDS and/or Joint Staff experience
  • Familiarity with DoD roles and missions, and organizational structure
  • Working knowledge of PowerPoint and other Microsoft Office applications
  • Innovative and fresh thinking with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to manage and prioritize numerous concurrent assignments
  • Organized individual, with prioritization and time management skills
  • Applicant must be a U.S. citizen
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills, especially research skills
  • Applicant must be able to function in a team-oriented environment and to interact professionally with employees and management at all levels
