Product Development Technician Electro-Mechanical Components

Job Description
Salary non-exempt employee responsible for the manufacture, fabrication, and installation of manufacturing and developmental hardware for electro-mechanical systems, units, control devices, and associated equipment. Candidate must be able determine methods, sequence of operations, lay out, fabricate, assemble, test, troubleshoot, self-inspect, and perform repairs on developmental and production electronics of control devices, units, sub-systems, systems and associated equipment.

TYPICAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Works from preliminary design drawings, sketches, and schematics as well as oral and written instructions.
•Determines sequence of operations to fabricate, assemble, and troubleshoot electro-mechanical development systems, sub-systems, units, control devices and associated test equipment as specified by Engineers and Responsible Engineering Authorities.
•Fabricates, assembles, troubleshoots, and tests cables to include cable splicing and connector attachment for all types of cables using both hand and automated tooling.
•Sets up operates a variety of standard and specialized opto-electronic test equipment in conducting test to determine the quality of electro-mechanical equipment or multiple banks of inter-related electro-mechanical equipment. Diagnoses the cause of malfunctions and makes necessary adjustments.
•May use hand and power tools and equipment as necessary in order to perform above duties
•Performs rework and repair of the same nature and level of difficulty as described.
•Occasional travel may be required to support field testing of systems under development.


Required Skills and Education:
•2+ years relevant experience in manufacturing, fabrication or similar discipline to include military experience
•Knowledge of general manufacturing processes.
•High School Diploma
•Active Secret Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret Clearance
•Understanding of basic electronic and/or Electro-Mechanical theory.

Desired Skills and Education:
•Trade school or technician certificate
•Excellent communication skills (written and verbal) to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
•Ability to obtain and maintain J-STD Soldering Cert.
•Experience with high-voltage pulsed power systems and ability to work safely around high voltage
•Demonstrated capability to perform a broad, diverse range of technical tasks and/or very specific technical tasks in the engineering disciplines
•Ability to provide hands on technical support during research and development phases through demonstration tests
•Capable of receiving detailed instructions and expressing technical concepts clearly
•Ability to work with large and small teams, depending on circumstances
•Ability to work with lifting fixtures and forklifts
•Ability to work with hand tools such as drills, wrenches, hydraulic jacks, etc.
