Principal Systems Engineer

The Zumwalt Class Ships Software Integration and Baseline Management (SIBM) Systems Engineer will plan and manage numerous software loads and upgrades of software installation packages being developed and integrated for use aboard DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyers. The SIBM Systems Engineer will provide flawless configuration control and reporting of all changes constituting and affecting the baselines of all software packages.

Job Description:
The Zumwalt Class Ships Software Integration and Baseline Management (SIBM) Systems Engineer reports directly to the Total Ship Activation (TSA) Ship Integration CPT Lead, interfaces with the TSA Test Director, TSA IPT Lead, Mission Systems Activation (MSA) Chief Engineer, and Mission Area Technical Leads, and with US Navy and Contractor personnel. The SIBM Systems Engineer will plan and manage numerous software loads and upgrades of software installation packages being developed and integrated for use aboard DDG-1000 Zumwalt Class Destroyers. The SIBM Systems Engineer will provide flawless configuration control of all changes affecting the baselines of all software packages in multiple systems across the Class, and also for the associated Navy Test Ship. The SIBM Systems Engineer will perform physical audits of the DDG-1000 Class ship systems, and assist the Software IPT lead as required in an ancillary capacity utilizing a strong background in software development, deployment, and integration.

Required Skills:

  • Eight (8) years of experience with US Navy Ship's Combat and Communication System software, Command and Control systems software, installation planning, firmware procurements, and ship's deck plate installation, inspection and/or testing.
  • Experience with Linux based software systems.

Desired Skills:
  • Active Secret clearance or ability to obtain interim within 30 days from date of hire.
  • Demonstrated engineering leadership experience with proven track record.
  • Experience with NAVSEA SHIPMAIN and Regional Maintenance Center’s REMCO Processes, WAF (Work Authorization Form) and other availability installation paperwork
  • Experience with release of software in an AGILE software development environment
  • AGILE software development Scrum Master/Product Owner
  • Understanding of software development lifecycle models and program lifecycle modes.
  • Experience with incremental software release processes across multiple deployment sites.
  • Experience in preparing executive management level briefings.
  • Attention to detail and process oriented
  • Ability to work with Teams at all levels
  • Experience managing Configuration Control Boards Experience with software development activities
  • Experience in technical risk management
  • Qualified Raytheon Six Sigma Specialist or equivalent
  • Master's degree preferred.

Required Education:

BS/BA in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) or 8 years of relevant professional experience in lieu of a BS/BA
