Principal Systems Engineer

The Aircraft Modernization (AM) Integrated Product Team (IPT) provides innovative aircraft platform solutions to a broad range of military and commercial military derivative aircraft. The AM IPT is part of the Northrop Grumman Technology Services (NGTS) Sustainment Engineering & Technical Center (SETC) based out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Come be a part of our team as a Lead Systems Engineersupporting C-130 Avionics Maintenance and Modernization.
We're seeking a Principal Systems Engineer to join our team working to modify and upgrade aging flight decks and mission systems on a wide variety aircraft. The position may also act as a Work Package Lead on System Engineering activities.
Responsibilities:
  • Ensures the logical and systematic conversion of customer/product requirements into controlled System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) using an Engineering Requirements Database tool.
  • Integrates avionics or mission systems which may include flight deck, command and control,navigation, communications,and airborne sensors onboard commercial derivative or military aircraft platforms.
  • Monitors Technical Performance Measures (TPMs), Key Performance Parameters (KPPs), Key Performance Areas (KPAs), etc. and alerts team leads to negative trends.
  • Maintains a Project Engineering Requirements Database using a CRADLE, DOORS, or similar tool.
  • Interfaces with other technical disciplines such as safety, cyber, human factors, designs, manufacturing, verification/validation, flight test, airworthiness, etc. to ensure their work products support overall schedule, cost and technical performance requirements.
  • Prepares Engineering Change Proposals (ECPs) packages under the oversight of a Lead Systems Engineer.
  • Conducts briefings, trade studies, progress reports, test reports, etc.

Basic Qualifications:
  • Must have one of the following:
    • A Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Math, or Science (STEM) discipline with a minimum of 5 years of relevant engineering experience
    • A Master's degree in a STEM discipline with a minimum of 3 years of relevant engineering experience
    • A PhD in a STEM discipline
  • Must have or be able to obtain an active U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance
  • Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with CNS/ATM and RNAV/RNP requirements.
  • Familiarity with preparation and control management of a System/Subsystem Specification (SSS) using and Engineering Requirements Database tool.
  • Experience with Higher Level Quality Systems (ISO 9001, AS9100, CMMI).
  • Knowledge and/or experience with other MIL-STD's (MIL-STD-882, 704, 1275, 464, etc.).
  • Knowledge regarding the airworthiness certification process for commercial or military aircraft (MIL-STD-516C, DO-178, DO-254, DO-160, FAA STC, etc.).
  • Possession of a current active Secret Clearance or above.
