Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for a Principal Structural Engineerto join our team of highly qualified and diverse individuals. This position will be located in El Segundo, California.
Job duties will include Composite Structural Analysis including detailed analysis procedures, load path development, layout and detail sizing, impact damage effects, failure theories, stacking sequence/laminate analysis, environmental effects, bolted and bonded composite joints, and finite element modeling of composite structure. In addition, the candidate will also perform Metallic Structural Analysis including detailed analysis procedures, analysis of fittings/fasteners/joints/splices, acoustics/vibration familiarity, structural integrity planning, design criteria development, stability, crippling, durability analysis and finite element modeling of metallic structure. Candidate must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Candidate should be a self-starter and be able to handle multiple tasks in parallel.

Basic Qualifications:

  • BS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil)with 5years of experience in Aerospace; ORMS degree in Engineering (Aerospace, Mechanical, or Civil) with 3 years of experience in Aerospace
  • Interim DoD Secret Clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Finite Element Analysis Tools Including Patran or FEMAP, and Nastran.
  • Previous composite structural testing experience
  • Prior military aircraft structural analysis experience
  • Active Secret Security Clearance
