Principal/Senior Principal Industrial Engineer

The Avionics & Tactical Networks (ATN) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as aPrincipal/Senior Principal Industrial Engineerbased out of our Rancho Carmel facility in San Diego, CA.

The ATN Team'sexpertise is in delivering complex equipment to enable modern battlefields and support aviation missions. Our focus is on the world of avionics, radio, and electronic warfare product application to enable networked communications. As part of the corporation's business focus area on Communications, we are the equipment providers.' Our team of communication systems experts is developing next-generation ground radios for land forces, and our Electronic Warfare subject matter experts are creating the next generation of Improvised Explosive Device (IED) countermeasures to keep our soldiers safe when in harm's way.

What You'll Get To Do:

  • Analyze production processes and output quality to improve efficiencies in production yields and throughput.
  • Develop work measurement systems and reports performance.
  • Maintains labor standards; performs ergonomic studies, safety initiatives, facility layout, capacity analysis, and process simulation.
  • Support capital equipment studies and proposal activity.
  • Define and executes process improvement projects aligned with business strategies.
  • Lead all Lean and 5S initiatives for the production facility, including facilitating and coaching improvement teams.
  • Contribute to the completion of organizational projects and goals.
  • Require interface and coordination with other Production support departments as well as regular interface with multiple levels of management.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Industrial Engineer:

  • BS in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or other related STEM technical field.
  • 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelors degree or a 3 years relevant experience with Masters degree in a technical field.
  • Project planning and management experience for moderately complex tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Power Point, and Simul8 or comparable simulation software.
  • Experience in manufacturing or operations.
  • Experience building capacity models.
  • Working experience in SAP or other shop floor control system.
  • Knowledgeable in data analytics.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
  • Must have proficient writing, presentation, team skills, and the ability to conduct presentations to upper management.

Basic Qualifications for a Senior Principal Industrial Engineer:

  • BS in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or other related STEM technical field.
  • 9years relevant experience with a Bachelors degree or 7 years of relevant experience with a Masters degree in a technical field.
  • Project planning and management experience for moderately complex tasks.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Project, and Power Point, and Simul8 or comparable simulation software.
  • Experienced in manufacturing or operations.
  • Experienced inbuilding capacity models.
  • Working experience in SAP other shop floor control system.
  • Knowledgeable in data analytics.
  • Must be able to obtain/maintain a DOD Secret clearance.
  • Must have proficient writing, presentation, team skills, and the ability to conduct presentations to upper management.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • MS in Industrial Technology, Industrial Engineering, or other related technical field.
  • 6 Sigma / Lean professional certification and/or proven experience.
  • Prior experience leading Lean and 6 Sigma initiatives.
  • Project planning and management experience for moderately complex tasks.
  • Experience in an electronics manufacturing environment.
  • PMP certification.
  • Background in supporting technical disciplines in Industrial Engineering and Manufacturing Engineering is a plus.
  • Experience establishing labor standards.
