Principal or Senior Principal UX Researcher/Human Factors Engineer

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems is seeking an experienced Principal or Senior Principal UX Researcher/Human Factors Engineer to work within our team of qualified, diverse individuals. The position is located in Aurora, CO.

The team is looking for a User Experience Researcher with a Top Secret/SCI clearance who can apply user research methodologies and is familiar with conducting user engagements in a secure customer environment.

We are looking for someone with strategic thinking skills and understanding of people and organizations to ensure our research approach is optimal. A strong appreciation for how user-centered design processes bring together users, designers, the technical team, and other stakeholders to best accomplish mission tasks will help the successful candidate rapidly add value to our team.

Typical Duties:

* Human factors analyses of operator software and workflows (e.g. heuristic reviews).

* Prepare, coordinate, and conduct various UX based user tests of software products in various stages of production from ideation, paper prototypes, through to delivered products.

* Support software and systems engineering efforts to deliver user centered mission software.

* Prepare and present research, test, and design documentation.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

This position may be filled as either a Principal Eng Human Factors or a Sr. Principal Eng Human Factors.

Basic Qualifications for a Principal Eng Human Factors:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Computer Science, HCI, Human Factors, Engineering or other related discipline with 5+ years UX, or other applicable qualitative, research experience; 3+ years with a Masters; 0 years with PhD
  • Knowledge and practice of UX industry best practices including usability, information architecture, and the ability to perform user research and analysis resulting in user models, user journeys task flows, gap analysis and solid information architecture design.
  • Active SCI clearance

Basic Qualifications for a Sr. Principal Eng Human Factors:

  • Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Computer Science, HCI, Human Factors, Engineering or other related discipline with 9+ years UX, or other applicable qualitative, research experience; 7+ years with a Masters;4 years with PhD
  • Knowledge and practice of UX industry best practices including usability, information architecture, and the ability to perform user research and analysis resulting in user models, user journeys task flows, gap analysis and solid information architecture design.
  • Active SCI clearance



Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mastersdegree in Psychology, Computer Science, HCI, Human Factors, Engineering or other related discipline
