Principal or Senior Principal Electrical Engineer (Electrical Systems) / Top Secret / SCI

Are you ready to join Northrop Grumman? if so, we areseeking a Principal Electrical Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Dulles, VA.

You will perform analysis, design, or test of one or more complex designs, which require use of ingenuity and creativity and without detailed direction from more senior engineers. Based on generally defined problems he/she will study design concepts and criteria to ascertain the engineering principles involved. In addition, will plan, prepare, and complete the design. Evaluate completed design with more senior engineers and other technical groups and make modifications necessary to achieve a design that satisfies requirements. Develop, coordinate, and conduct the test programs required to evaluate the design. May also oversee component supplier and/or subsystem design, analysis, manufacture, and test.

Job Duties:

  • Supports the design of electrical systems, command and data handling systems, payload integration, etc.
  • Lead electrical technology assessments and electrical system level architecture trade studies, electrical system definition, and electrical subsystem level requirements flow-down (analysis and allocation)
  • Previous Experience:
    • Performing CAM activities
    • Managing and reporting EVMS as required by program
    • Developing and managing schedule and resources as required by the program / project
  • Lead/coordinate electrical avionics team
  • Develop cost estimates for proposals and programs
  • Provide technical oversight to ensure the electrical system is compliant and verifiable at the avionics digital and analog telemetry level
  • Supports operation of satellite electrical systems by evaluating and interpreting needs and problems and develops effective approaches to resolving those issues
  • Analyze and interprets requirements at the space vehicle level and flows down requirements to lower level specifications
  • Evaluates and coordinates electrical system designs to ensure system-level requirements are met
  • Provides documentation and makes technical presentations as required
  • Develop space vehicle level interface designs
  • Provides technical coordination of vendors and suppliers
  • Represent the organization in providing solutions to technical issues associated with specific projects
  • Analyzes and designs avionics systems in assigned area by utilizing standard engineering and scientific principles

BasicQualifications:

This position may hire at a level 3 or a level 4 based on the qualifications below:

1. Level 3: 5 Years of direct experiencewith a Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with a Masters; 0 Years with aPhD.

or Level 4: 9 Years of direct experiencewith a Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with a Masters; 4 Years with a PhD.

2. Requirements gathering experience.

3. Experience with DOORs.

4. Experience as Cost Account Manager Lead.

5. MS Project Experience, Scheduling & EVMS Background.

6. Experience working as a member of a team, collaborating effectively with an integrated team of customers, vendors, users, and co-workers.

7. Ability to work independently, on a large team, and on concurrent tasks.

8. Strong analytical, problem solving and critical thinking skills.

9. Strong written and verbal communication skills in order to articulate to the Team.

10 CurrentTS/SCI Clearance.

Preferred Qualifications:

1. CurrentTS/SCI with CI Poly

2. ExpertDOORs experience

3. Experience with circuit design and FPGA
