Principal Metrology Engineer

This position is responsible for providing technical metrology support for all SAS sites across the country. This position will work closely with the primary standards lab as well as SAS secondary standards operations and suppliers. The metrology engineering lead will be responsible for understanding and interpreting requirements from multiple customers including the DOD, NASA, NGST, JPL, and Boeing.The metrology engineer will review, interpret, and clarify requirements; releasing procedures that ensure contractual, industry, and government standards are met during the calibration process. This position involves extensive coordination and communication with Raytheon customers, programs, government, and quality auditors at all levels.


A strong understanding of electrical engineering and physics is required, as well as an in-depth knowledge of equipment, principles and techniques of measurement assurance.Understanding of metrology concepts such as traceability, measurement uncertainty, dimensional equations, and familiarity with industry documents such as ISO/IEC 17025 and ANSI/NCSL Z540 is required.


The electrical technical lead will not only provide technical leadership to the team, but will be responsible for the team’s technical performance, andwill aid in individual training plans of less senior metrology engineers.This individual will be required to be ‘highly visible’ within the customer base, partnering with IPTLs, team leads and Chief Engineers to satisfy customer requirements.


Required Skills:


·Minimum of 8 years of work experience in Metrology and Integration and Test


·Must be able to obtain DoD Secret Security Clearance


·US Citizenship


Desired Skills:


·Familiarity with space metrology techniques



Required Education:


Bachelors of Science Degree in Engineering, Math, Science or other Technical Field



Desired Education:


Masters of Science Degree in Engineering


This position requires a U.S. person or the ability to obtain an Export Authorization from the appropriate government agency for non-U.S. persons


U.S. Citizenship status is required as this position will need a U.S. Security Clearance within 1 year of start date
