Principal Mechanical Engr

Job Description:

Raytheon seeks an experienced Mechanical Engineer to provide top-quality products for the nation’s defense, in a cooperative and collaborative work environment.

The qualified candidate will provide mechanical engineering support for the EO Mechanical Department where the primary focus will be to develop interconnect solutions of varying technology types (harness/flexible CCA/RF/fiber) to support program requirements. Role includes mechanical design, technology selection and trade off analysis, performing producibility assessments, and interfacing with key program stakeholders and suppliers. Effectively communicate technical knowledge regarding interconnect design and manufacturability and offer alternative design solutions to meet or exceed program manufacturability and affordability goals. The candidate will provide leadership on interconnect issues to the project team, working closely with systems, electrical, and mechanical engineers to deliver a complete system interconnect solution to the customer.

Required Skills:
  • Eight (8) years of professional experience in mechanical design
  • Must currently have or be able to obtain a Department of Defense Secret clearance
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with design and /or manufacture of interconnect assemblies
  • Must have mechanical CAD design experience and related electronic design experience
  • Experience generating engineering drawings
  • Experience with Pro/E or Creo Parametric / Creo Cabling
  • Ability to communicate and document technical knowledge and solutions for interconnect technology products
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Ability to work in multiple discipline integrated product development team environments
  • Multi-tasking to support several programs concurrently and may require local travel between sites and some remote travel as required
  • Strong desire to learn and contribute in a teaming environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office tools (i.e. Word, Excel, Power Point and Visio)
  • Familiarity with applicable military and industry design and end product performance standards for cable assemblies including IPC/WHMA-A-620
  • Proficient written and verbal communication skills
Desired Skills:
  • Experience in the design and integration of mechanical products and assemblies
  • Electro-mechanical/electro-optical design experience
  • Expertise in the use of 3D CAD Solid Modeling Tools, Creo Parametric preferred
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal, and communication skills
  • Existing security clearance
  • Prior experience designing, and / or supporting aerospace/defense related products
  • Expertise in connector selection for military and aerospace environments
Required Education (including Major):
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering degree with 8 years of related work experience
