Job Description:
The Systems Architecture Design and Integration Directorate (SADID) is the central focus for Mission Systems Integration activities within Raytheon’s Integrated Defense Systems (IDS). The more than 1,100 employees of SADID provide requirements definition and design at the system, subsystem and component level every day in a collaborative environment which is characterized by respect for the individual, problem solving in a team setting, consensus oriented solutions, and results based recognition. Supporting this mission are teams providing domain expertise and creative solutions in surveillance, naval and missile defense based radar system design, sonar and undersea sensor system design, integrated air and missile defense systems engineering, command and control/battle management system design, combat system and platform architecture design and integration, operational analysis and simulation modeling research and development, software intensive system engineering, cyber solutions and algorithm development for signal processing, tracking and discrimination systems. The Operations Analysis and Simulation Department within SADID has a charter to conduct analyses and to deliver products to programs across the IDS portfolio; including surface Navy, undersea Navy, missile defense sensors, interceptors, command and control, integrated air and missile defense systems and space surveillance systems. Because the work involves the effectiveness of US Systems against emerging threats, the candidate must have a TOP SECRET clearance.

The Principal Investigator Advanced Threats will be responsible for delivering credible mission effectiveness, performance, and cost benefit analyses for a range of complex and advanced technology warfighting architectures and systems. Must have in-depth knowledge of emerging threats, have understanding of the advanced capabilities needed to counter these threats, and have comprehensive awareness of the shortfalls in deployed systems. Will work with business development staff to create and model advanced technology options to support new captures and other product line growth opportunities spanning the product lifecycle: design, development, production, sustainment/support, and obsolescence. Will be expected to build and sustain deep and lasting relationships with Customers based on credible analysis products. Will be expected to develop and lead teams to conduct analysis by creating plans, identifying tools, defining deliverables, and executing to the analysis plan within the budget. Success will require harnessing subject matter experts from across all businesses and across multiple mission areas to create integrated advanced capabilities, advanced technologies solutions. Also, will mentor and groom lesser-experienced analysts on techniques for thinking through challenging problems, on standards that they must achieve to deliver credible results and on constructing credible and convincing customer presentations. Will be required to travel internationally.

This position requires an active U.S. Security Clearance as of day one of employment. Except in rare circumstances, only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.


Required Skills:
  • U.S. Citizenship is required
  • Active/Current Top Secret US Security Clearance.
  • 12+ years of relevant technical experience with experience leading high performance analysis teams
  • Knowledge of emerging military threats and an understanding of the advanced capabilities needed to counter these threats.
  • Experience with the DoD competitive bid process
  • Bachelor’s Degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics)

Desired Skills:

  • In-depth awareness of emerging threats and familiarity with the advanced technologies and CONOPS needed to counter these threats.
  • Experience with using constructive – virtual – live experiments to evaluate new concepts of operation and to develop new technology use cases.
  • Strong System Knowledge in warfighting Domains, including at least three of the following: Air Defense, Ballistic Missile Defense, Ship Self-Defense, Air/Land/Sea/Joint C4I, Operations in a Cyber Contested Environment, Network Centric Operations, Air Traffic Management, Critical Infrastructure Protection
  • Proven track record as planner and execution leader for complex analyses for DOD customers
  • Hands on role in assessing threat system capabilities
  • Excellent presentation skills
  • Experience analyzing Big Data
  • Delivering credible assessments of complex architectures
  • Current Extended Background Check with polygraph
  • Advanced Degree and/or PhD in Engineering, Science or Mathematics
