Principal Engineer Software or Sr. Principal Engineer Software

The Software and Digital Technologies (SWDT) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Prinicpal or Sr. Principal Engineer Software based out of Colorado Springs, CO.

What You'll get to Do:
Leading a small Software Engineering team performing Research and Develop in the area of mission-level multi-domain modeling and simulation
Championing the development and implementation of innovative concepts in the areas of modeling and simulation, DevOps, cross-campus software development, and technology development
Proactively engaging with leadership to understand OU, BU, Division, Sector, and cross-Sector objectives in the mission space
Collaborate across organizations to ensure alignment of activities and effective use of company investments
Software Architecture and Development in support of IRAD objectives
Rapid software defect root cause analysis and solution development
Performing other tasks as needed including SW test, peer reviews, development of content for presentations and demonstrations, briefing internal and external audiences, and other activities inherent to working on a small team
Position will require up to 25% travel

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

MSCOMSTR
This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Sr. Principal Engineer Software level.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:
Principal Engineer Software: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline and 5 years of experience; or a Master's in a STEM related discipline and 3 years of experience.
Sr. Principal Engineer Software: Bachelor's degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) related discipline and 9 years of experience; or a Master's in a STEM related discipline and 7 years of experience.
Candidate must have hands-on development experience for OO/C++
Candidate must have experience presenting technical concepts to a variety of technical and non-technical audiences
Position requires U.S. Citizenship
Must have a DoD Secret security clearance

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:
Familiarity with Missile Defense, Missile Warning and Space Situational Awareness missions.
Experience with SW development tools to include task tracking, software repositories, continuous integration and automation.
Familiarity with Agile development processes to include DevOps processes, test driven development, as well as have good written and communication skills.
Experience leading a SW Team
Familiarity or experience with UML, or SYSML.
Familiarity with SW development in a Windows environment
