Principal Engineer Quality

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Principal QualityEngineer to join our team of professionals in Omaha, NE. Build a future of excellence and become part of NG's Mission Assurance team providing services to our multiple customers, including USSTRATCOM Headquarters.

Qualified candidates must work as part of a team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan ahead, and be customer-support focused. Your work history should demonstrate an aptitude for ensuring that corporate, contractual, and project documents, instructions and procedures are followed during execution.

  • Effectively interprets and communicates customer quality requirements to engineering personnel while performing inspection as required

  • Collaborates with engineering functions to ensure quality standards are in place

  • Tailors, develops, and maintains quality management system policies and procedures

  • Participates in technical reviews, to include peer reviews, program management reviews, and test readiness reviews.

  • Provides support to control boards, to include those for configuration, risk and opportunity, and management review

  • Reviews and approves drawings, work instructions, requisitions, procedures, and test plans.

  • Reports and reviews needed corrective/preventive actions; tracks the status of these actions through closure; reviews/analyzes defect data; monitors test problem report data and closure status

  • Communicates quality requirements to subcontractors and reviews subcontractor evaluations.

  • Demonstrates strong communication skills (both oral and written) necessary to support the assignment and weekly reports

  • Performs program activity assessments ensuring compliance with stated requirements

  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes

  • Analyzes program quality data to assess and determine responsibility for products that do not meet required standards

  • Works in partnership with program teams to provide guidance for program execution, with a focus on achieving total mission success and meeting or exceeding customer expectations

  • Supports Mission Assurance implementation according to the program rhythm

  • Manages and coordinates QA activities for customers

  • Demonstrates a strong ability to work across functional organizations

  • Tracks and maintains performance metrics

  • Up to 10% travel may be required to fulfill position requirements


Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM-related technical field

  • 5+ years relevant experience in quality, engineering, or manufacturing

  • Strong written and verbal communications skills

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills

  • Current and active Secret security clearance with the ability to obtain Top Secret/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Top Secret/SCI clearance

  • Prior relevant Quality responsibilities across entire program lifecycleExperience with quality management system standards (e.g. ISO 9001/AS9100, CMMI)
