Principal Engineer Quality

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems sector is seeking a Quality Engineerto join our Undersea System team of qualified individuals in Annapolis, MD.

Qualified candidates must work as part of a team, demonstrate a high level of attention to detail, possess the ability to plan ahead and be customer- support focused. This position is responsible for all areas of Quality Engineering to support assigned programs.

Duties include: Review of contracts and proposals and provide quality inputs as required. Develop Quality Plans derived from contractual requirements. Provide the quality interface with all other departments, suppliers and customers. Perform procurement quality engineering tasks to support the Supply Chain Management process including quality requirements flow down on purchase orders and source inspection of completed hardware. Collaborate with Supply Chain, Manufacturing, Engineering, Suppliers and others to resolve quality related issues. Perform QA inspection, audits and surveillance to assure that all products comply with applicable specifications, standards and customer requirements. Perform internal quality management system (QMS) audits for deficiency identification and correction in support of ISO 9000:2015 requirements. Ensures that corrective actions meet acceptable reliability standards and that documentation is compliant with requirements. Review and approve drawings, process specifications, test procedures and certification packages. Responsible for production floor activities associated with quality, assisting in the Corrective Action Board (CAB), processing nonconforming material through the Material Review Board (MRB) process and interfacing with other internal and external customers. Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials products. Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place. Devises and implements methods and procedures for inspecting, and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment. Designs and analyzes inspection processes, mechanisms and equipment, conducts quality assurance tests; and performs statistical analysis to assess the cost and determine the responsibility for, products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications. May specialize in the areas of design, incoming material, production control product evaluation and reliability, inventory control and/or research and development as they apply to product or process quality. Individuals must also have demonstrated ability to evaluate whether documents, instructions and procedures are being followed during execution and demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills.

Basic Qualifications for Principal Quality Engineer:
  • STEM bachelor'sdegree
  • 5+ years of relevant experience
  • Current Interim/Active Secret Clearance (US Citizenship required)
  • Ability to obtain Top Secret Clearance
  • Knowledge of SAP system
  • Ability to work flexible schedules to include occasional off normal hours as necessary to meet commitments
  • Possesses good interpersonal skills to successfully interface with diverse groups or individuals
  • Self-starter with demonstrated problem-solving skills who can work with minimal direction
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Bachelor'sdegree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • Knowledge of Non Destructive Testing (NDT), Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T), ISO 9001 trained auditor or equivalent, and American Society for Quality (ASQ) Certification
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Experience using various mechanical inspection tools, such as micrometers and calipers
  • Ability to code purchase orders
