Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems has an opening for an Engineer 3 Supportability Engineering to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Melbourne, FL.
Candidate will be required to identify, analyze, quantify and influence logistics requirements to support the weapon system including spares, Support Equipment, technical data, training, facilities, and personnel. Position requires the responsibilities of design influence, initiating and performing trade studies, detailed task analysis, RCM, significant item identification, failure mode identification, SE requirements definition and analysis, support system and maintenance plan development.
Essential Functions:
This position will perform system engineering and integration tasks relating to Product Support IPTs, and represent Product Support in interaction with Design Engineering and IPT support. The position will be responsible for establishing the requirements associated with depot maintenance of the weapon system and associated subsystems, including (but not limited to) structural analysis, inspection requirements/procedures, corrective maintenance tasks, deactivation, demilitarization, and disposal.
Candidate will have a complete understanding and apply technical principle, theories, and concepts to responsible tasking, and have a general understanding of other related disciplines. They will be able to work with general direction, independently determine and develop approaches to solutions. Work will be reviewed at milestones and completion to assure adequacy in meeting requirements. Candidate will contribute to the completion of programs and projects. There will be frequent intra organizational and outside customer contacts, and responsibility to represent the organization providing input to solutions and technical discussions. This person will represent the Product Support organization, and provide status and plans to leadership as directed.
The selected candidate should thrive in a fast-paced work environment with high expectations, significantly diverse assignments, collaborative/team settings across all levels. Candidate must be comfortable in a lab environment and be able to collaborate closely with system engineers, hardware designers, and integration/test engineers.

  • Basic Qualifications:
    • Bachelor's Degree in a Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) discipline from an accredited university and 5+ years of engineering experience
    • Must have an Active, In-Scope, DOD Secret or Top Secret clearance that has been granted / renewed within the past 5-6 years
    • Must have the ability to obtain program access
    Preferred Qualifications:
    • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Licenses
    • Experience with military aircraft depot maintenance
    • Experience in MIL-STD-1388/GEIA-STD-0007 Logistics Support Analysis
    • Candidate shall have knowledge of design and database tools, and possess the ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and parts lists
    • Must be well organized, pay a great deal of attention to detail, possess good written and verbal communication skills and be able to present design concepts to an audience.
    • Must be able to work well with co-workers, other groups and external suppliers.
    • Must also be willing to travel to various site locations to participate and represent the Product Support IPT
