Northrop Grumman Aerospace Systems sector is seeking a Mechanical Design Engineer to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA.

In this role you will:

Support the Vehicle Systems Products & Subsystems Engineering Team to perform tasks related to a production Aircraft Program of Record. This position is responsible for working directly with Customers to integrate Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) within a NGC production environment and represent the Program with external and internal Customers. The successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining a positive line of balance that ensures GFE availability in support of Program production schedules and for elevating issues when additional support is necessary. A high level of coordination with internal and external stakeholders will be required as well as excellent communication and project planning experience.

This position includes varying responsibility for directly supporting related IPT's within the broader Vehicle Systems Products & Subsystems Engineering Team, including Mechanisms, Subsystems Design, Avionics & Vehicle Systems, Weapons Integration, and/or Systems Engineering. The selected candidate may also assist execution of engineering design projects (BTPs, Mod Drawings, Production, and Modernization) to support necessary schedule deliveries.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 5+ years of professional engineering experience, or Master of Science in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited university with 3+ years of professional engineering experience

Experience in communicating with Customers and Suppliers at all levels combined with a proven ability for project integration and delivery of complex aerospace systems.

Experience with industry standard design tools and processes including 3D CAD

Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance.




Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with integration of Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) in a production environment and knowledge of propulsion systems, Material Review Board (MRB) and Quality Processes.

Experience creating and developing preliminary engineering designs and layouts within a 3D CAD environment.

Experience with the design, development, and implementation of aerospace mechanical systems as well as a working knowledge of complex mechanical subsystems and integration of subsystems hardware into Aircraft Systems is preferred.

Experience with industry standard design tools including NX, CATIA V5, Engineering Central, AIAA S-114-2005 Mechanical Moving Assemblies and Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerance (GD&T) applications is advantageous.

Prior technical and subcontracts management experience, along with a track record of leading suppliers in the design, integration and/or production phases of aerospace systems within schedule requirements is desirable.
