Principal Electrical Engineer or Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer

The Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) Technology Maturation and Risk Reduction (TMRR) team at Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) is looking for you to join our team as a Hardware Engineer based out of Colorado Springs, CO or El Segundo, CA.

What You'll get to Do:

The Hardware Engineer is responsible for development of hardware design of a complex Weapon System Command and Control (WSC2) system for GBSD Command and Launch operations. Responsibilities include participation in multiple working groups to develop a precise and complete set of requirements for WSC2. Provide input to interface definitions between WSC2 and other elements. Work closely with other element and segment product teams to develop an integrated solution. Perform trades to justify decisions feeding the design. Interface with vendor teams for technical information needed for operational system. Update Weapon System Acquisition Management (WSAM) with design information and interface with Command and Launch Architecture team.

This requisition may be filled at a higher grade based on qualifications listed below.

Qualifications:

This requisition may be filled at either a Principal or Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer level.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • For a Principal Electrical Engineer: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD
  • For a Sr. Principal Electrical Engineer: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hardware design
  • Experience with ground station design and/or military weapon systems
  • Ability to produce engineering documentation
  • Basic understanding of engineering lifecycle processes
  • Excellent communications and teamwork skills
  • Active DoD Secret clearance with investigation within past 5 years
  • Up to 25% travel


These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

  • Experience with missile command, launch, and/or warning systems
  • Experience with military data links, RF communications, and/or satellite communications (SATCOM)
  • Experience documenting configuration of equipment, including troubleshooting approach/methodology
