Principal Electrical Engineer

The qualified candidate will become part of Northrop Grumman's Sustainment Engineering and Technical Center (SETC).

SETC provides sustainment support for the US Air Force B-2 Bomber, E-3 Sentry, Airborne Warning and Control System, and numerous other Government platforms. Our team members complete engineering, reverse engineering and logistics solution efforts to solve complex obsolescence problems and ensure warfighter supportability.

The selected candidate will work in a dynamic people-focused environment where he/she will interact with users, customers and other developers. Our diverse work environment is comprised of nearly equal parts multidisciplinary engineers and other technical experts. Team members interact will interact with external Government customers and civil partners on a regular basis.

Northrop Grumman Technology Services is seeking an Electrical Engineer 3 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma for support on projects associated with the design and development of communication, navigation, radar, avionics, power and/or electrical systems architecture, components, circuits, and products or aircraft maintenance. The employee will research, develop, design, and test electrical components, equipment, systems, and products for defense systems or commercial purposes.

This engineer will support the Lead Engineer in execution of various program activities, to include program reviews, test procedure, report, and control plan development and review, requirements management, automated test software development, test execution and witnessing, and hardware selection and specification development.

Responsibilities:

  • Analyze complex electronic circuitry and precision electro-mechanical assemblies through simulation or analysis in order to recommend component substitutions or re-design solutions to ensure the integrity of the platform configuration, system safety, and performance specifications.
  • Identify, analyze, and solve obsolescence issues.
  • Access, interpret, and recommend changes to engineering drawings.
  • Establish design concepts, criteria and engineering efforts for product research, development, integration and test.
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules.
  • Identify program problems and assist in the establishing of solutions, such as allocation of resources, improved processes, or changing contractual specifications.
  • Act independently to uncover and resolve issues associated with the development and implementation of programs.
  • Support process improvement and establishment.
  • Performs functional analysis, timeline analysis, detail trade studies, requirements allocation and interface definition studies to translate customer requirements into hardware and software specifications
  • Generates reports and presents to Government counterparts, defense contractors, and other cross-functional organizations

Basic Qualifications:

  • Must have at least one of the following:
    • A Bachelor's degree in an electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of5 years of engineering experience.
    • A Master's degree in an electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of3 years of engineering experience.
    • A PhD degree in an electrical engineering or related discipline with a minimum of0 years of engineering experience.
  • Must have or be able to obtain a U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) Secret security clearance.
  • Must be able to work on-site in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Preferred Qualifications:

A preferred candidate will include experience in some or many of the following areas

  • OrCAD or similar design tool experience a plus.
  • Experience with aerospace systems.
  • Experience with Air Force customers and aerospace industry and military standards.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance (or higher).
  • Experience with test planning at the circuit card, equipment and system level.
  • Experience with nuclear hardened systems.
  • Experience with information security, COMSEC and TEMPEST.
  • Experience with DOORS and general requirements management best practices.
  • Experience with embedded software development and/or cybersecurity.
  • Experience conductinganalysis of electrical components within aircraft maintenance programs, determining effectiveness and creating written recommendations forincreasing efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Familiarity with engineering project leadership to include cost, schedule and deliverable quality responsibility.
  • Familiarity with contracts to include Statement of Work and requirements establishment as well as proposal evaluations.
  • Familiarity with business development covering white papers, cost estimations and formal proposals.
